Ben Richards, Jon Nicholas, Dan Palmer, with Warwick Davis and
Howard Lew Lewis as The Knackermen
This independent horror film started out in 2003 as a promotional short to get funding for a feature production. By Spring 2004 the short was looking so good that the filmmakers decided to rewrite it into a feature length movie.
The film has an excellent official site which includes this plot description:
"A young photographer takes a bike ride through the forest... Two naïve newly weds are on an adventure road trip... Together they find themselves in the land of Grockleton, where the colourful inhabitants seem friendly and all too eager to please. But as time passes by, things change. In Grockleton there is an ancient tradition... A hunting game... with an unsuspecting prey!Gumboot Pictures presents ‘Small Town Folk’, a thrilling adventure through a nail-biting world of traps and surprises, thrills and spills, which will keep the audience on the very edge of their seats.
The June 16, 2005 news report on the official page stated that Warwick had finished filming scenes for the movie. He and Howard Lew Lewis have cameos in the film as 'The Knackermen' - two creepy woodsmen on the outskirts of Grockleton.
The movie has a MySpace page which can be visited at www.myspace.com/smalltownfolk. Join up and become a friend of the movie!
The official site has some behind-the-scenes photos of Warwick in their Production Stills gallery and a couple of screen shots of Warwick to their Beesleys Family Album. With the permission of the filmmakers I've added some of these photos to my webpage as well. The new trailer that was posted in May 2006 has Warwick in it too.
From these pictures, it's apparent that Warwick's character in the film is human without exactly being ordinary. Of course, we're not getting the full force of the character's personality here; these are behind the scenes photos, and Warwick is probably just being himself in most of them. It'll be interesting to find out later on just how weird this character really is!
The UK addition of the DVD is available from Amazon.co.uk.
