Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Released July 11, 2007
Directed by David Yates
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson
Warwick plays Professor Flitwick once again, with the younger look he's had in the last two films. Flitwick appears in two different scenes; he doesn't have any dialogue this time around, but both scenes are humorous moments.
One of Flitwick's scenes is mentioned in the production notes for the movie: "The Professor of Divination, Sybill Trelawney, played by Emma Thompson, could not have foreseen that Umbridge would dismiss her without a moment’s thought, while Charms Professor Flitwick, played by Warwick Davis, also falls short of Umbridge’s standards."
There's an uncredited goblin who rides in the elevator with Harry and Mr. Weasley during their visit to the Ministry of Magic. That's Warwick too!
I don't consider The Order of the Phoenix to be one of the better books in the series because Harry seems to spend most of his time sulking childishly. The movie actually did a better job of making his attitude seem reasonable than the book did. There were some technical difficulties - the scenes showing Harry's mental connection to Voldemort didn't always come off well. Inevitably, some details in the book were changed and many small scenes were left out. But on the whole, I thought they did an excellent job of bringing the story to the screen.
