A chapter on Cherlindrea has been added to the Sourcebook. If you've ever wondered why Cherlindrea sent insignificant little Willow out on his dangerous mission instead of going out and doing it herself, this chapter will tell you why. There are several additions to Merchandise/Wearables. I've got pictures and information on yet another crew jacket, a picture of yet another color variation of the crew t-shirt, and a picture of some obviously bootleg pinbacks. But for the most interesting part of today's update, go to
Art/Props for a close-up view of General Kael's
headgear and some puppets used during Raziel's transformation scene.

The Fan Art section has become a busy place lately as Ruud Lips has has sent in another great painting, of General Kael this time. I've been forgetting to mention this for several weeks now: the
Special Edition Willow
figure is available from
Coolwaters Productions.
At present, it's shown in the 8th row of pictures on the Coolwaters site. Supplies
are limited!

For the second time this week, there's a new addition to the
Fan Art section. This picture is a canvas painting of
Willow by Ruud Lips, and it's even been autographed by Warwick Davis (who reportedly
loved it). Check it out!

Sad news, everyone. While doing some research for the page, I came across the news that Pat Roach (General Kael) passed away in July. In addition to the good general, he played some great characters in other movies, and he will most definitely be missed. Slam Sports has an obituary here. I've made some changes to the Links page to add some new pages that have appeared and remove some old ones that have vanished. Time for some news from the Willow art scene. Check out the Fan Art section for a nice new drawing of Sorsha by Jessica Fuerst (thanks, Jessica!. Also, click your way over to the Pixibilities website for a look at some limited-edition Ciruelo prints based on the covers for Shadow Moon and Shadow Star (sorry, no Shadow Dawn prints are available at present). They're a bit pricey - $75 for a fine-quality 24 x 36" poster and $195 for a 21 x 30" canvas print - but the images are gorgeous! The birth year (1958) for Tony Cox (Vohnkar Warrior #1) has been added to the Miscellanea section. Thanks to Britton for the information. My message board seems to have disappeared, and since it was severely inactive anyway
I've removed it from the menu instead of getting a new one. If you want to talk
about Willow, try
IMDb's Willow message
board or the
Willowufgood
discussion group.

Today's update features several new additions to Pictures Part 16. There's a nice Madmartigan poster of unknown origin, a picture of Vohnkar that actor Phil Fondacaro has apparently been offering at his convention appearances, and a nice publicity photo of Airk. That's not the only Airk-related update. Today's addition to the
Sourcebook project is a chapter
all about him. It tells you all about his knightly skills and leadership
qualities. But to find out why he's so annoyed at his former friend during the
encounter at the crossroads, check the Madmartigan chapter!

Go the the Art/Props section for some fresh pictures and information on brownie prop arrows. There are quite a few different varieties! A chapter on Elora Danan has been added to the
Sourcebook section. This chapter
clearly demonstrates how the Willow concept evolved over time - the Elora
described here fits in perfectly with the movie's vision, but doesn't really
match the Elora of the sequel novels.

The Sourcebook project continues to roll forward, with the chapter on Fin Raziel making its debut today. Find out what it's like to take a walk on the possum side. Today's update also features a couple of new pictures in
Behind the Scenes Pictures Part 4.

The case of the Japanese mystery book has been solved! When I saw this book on eBay, it was advertised more or less as a Japanese edition of the Willow novelization. But it turns out that this wasn't the case at all. Both Dave Tayman and Carl Mueller were able to read the Japanese title, and notified me that in fact this book is Shadow Moon! Check the Merchandise/Books section for a look at this book's intriguing cover art. The original Willow novelization was written by the late Wayland Drew. If you'd like to read an interview that he gave in days gone by, check out this one posted here by Andy Belyea, who is doing his Ph.D. dissertation on Drew. The interview doesn't mention Willow but it does contain a great deal of literary philosophy including some discussion of the nature of mythology and heroism. So it does fit in with the Willow theme. In the past, I've done a little reporting on Nightwish's Angels Fall First album, which contains some Willow references. The latest news on this album comes from Britton, who reports that the song Once Upon a Troubadour, which is said to include music from the tavern scene in Willow, is available only on some European versions of the album. Don't expect to find it on the U.S. edition, and check out the Miscellanea section for more info on this album. At the request of the artist, a picture has been removed from the Fan Art section. If there's anyone out there with Willow art they'd like to see in this section, send it on in! Merchandise/Audio contains some
fresh information about a promotional cassette tape of the Willow soundtrack.

The Articles section has a new Warwick Davis interview discussing the making of the movie. Well, it's new to the webpage, anyway; the interview originally appeared in the Starburst Winter Special of 1989. It's a pretty good article too, so check it out. The last time I posted an update to the Sourcebook section, I accidentally got ahead of myself and posted the chapter on General Kael out of sequence. So today I've backtracked a bit and added the chapter on Franjean and Rool that should have been posted last time. To see a nifty Willow sweatshirt, check out the Merchandise/Wearables section. This shirt was apparently one of the freebies that crew members received. Thanks to Jason G. for the information. Today's final item is a set of Willow stickers that were issued by Kraft foods
and packaged in specially marked boxes of Velveeta. You can view the stickers in
Merchandise/Miscellaneous/Paper and
Flat Goods.

A chapter on General Kael has been added to the Sourcebook section. Now you can read all about the legend that inspired the good general to become the lovable fellow that he is. Are you a mystery fan? If you are, head on over to the
Merchandise/Books section and take a
look at the "Japanese Mystery Book" that's been added to the Novelization subsection
at the top of the page. My best guess is that this is an early edition of the
novelization that
was released while the movie was still in post production, but I'm not really
sure that it's a Willow book at all. Can anybody out there solve this
mystery? An ability to read blurry Japanese would be a definite plus in this quest.

As a change of pace from new additions to the Sourcebook section, I've added a couple of new shots to Behind the Scenes Pictures Part 4 for your enjoyment. See Ron Howard at work! In Merchandise/Wearables, fresh pictures of a yellow variation of a very rare Willow t-shirt join the pictures of a brown version that has been on the site for a while. I wonder if these were the only styles produced, or it there were other colors? I'd love to have this shirt in blue or green. Willow t-shirts have always been hard to find, and they didn't make nearly enough of them. For the first time in a long time, there's an update to the
Multimedia section. I haven't added
any new material directly; instead, there's a link to an excellent Quicktime trailer on the
Movie-List
website. Thanks to Peter M for the link.

The Sourcebook project continues to move forward, with a chapter on Sorsha added today. Find out all about her childhood, and how much fun it was to have Bavmorda for a mother. Merchandise/Miscellaneous/Paper Goods
now has a picture of some rare Willow stickers that appear to be a Spanish import.

The first update of 2004 is here! It begins by adding the Bavmorda chapter to the Articles section's ongoing Sourcebook project. There's a new publicity photo in Behind the Scenes Pictures Part 4 and a new picture of the brownies in the wagon scene in Pictures Part 16. Finally, Merchandise/Wearables
has some fresh information on crew wear - specifically, the UK crew jacket and cap.
