| Sunday, December 24, 2000 - Billy Barty |
|
There's sad news today in the world of Willow. Billy Barty, the actor who played the High Aldwin with such crafty charm, died yesterday of heart failure at the age of 76. The Associated Press obituary has been reproduced in the Articles/Other Material section. The Billy Barty and Friends Webpage (available through the Links section) has been updated to announce this sad event, and includes a link to the more detailed Los Angeles Times obituary. The most detailed report is on Ain't It Cool News. Mr. Barty was a great actor, and he will be deeply missed.

through the last section of the Articles.
|
| Wednesday, December 6, 2000 - Shadow Dawn synopsis |
|
The Shadow Dawn chapter-by-chapter synopsis is now complete! The chapters
that were already online have been revised, and the remaining chapters have been
added. It's located in The Saga/Shadow Dawn section, and also can be reached
through the last section of the Articles.
|
| Sunday, November 19, 2000 - Shadow Moon synopsis |
|
Since joining the staff of Willow.Lucasfan.Com back in August, I've spent all my time working on the movie-related sections of the site. Now it's time the novels got some attention. The first order of business is to finish the chapter-by-chapter synopses. I've revised the Shadow Moon synopses for the Prologue and Chapter 1, and added synopses for chapters 2 through 15. The Shadow Moon synopsis is now complete! It's located in The Saga/Shadow Moon section, and is also accessible through the Articles section. In other news, I've done a little housekeeping. A coding error in the
Merchandise/Games section has been fixed. Now when you try to access the game manual for the
Willow Roleplaying Game, you'll actually get it. I've also fixed those nonfunctional
Story of Willow MP3s in the Merchandise/Audio section. The problem was that any MP3s
we uploaded were promptly devoured by the server. I don't know why this happened, but
my solution was to upload the MP3s to an offsite location.
|
| Sunday, November 12, 2000 - Another new magazine article |
|
The WILLOW preview from Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine #1 has been added to the
Articles section.
|
| Sunday, November 5, 2000 - New magazine article |
|
The Val Kilmer interview from Starlog Yearbook #3 has been added to the Articles
section.
|
| Sunday, October 29, 2000 - NES Maps |
|
Do you get lost when you play the Willow NES game? If so, you'll really appreciate
the NES game maps that have just been added to the Merchandise/Games section. Scroll
down to the NES game subsection, then click on the Maps link. With us as your guides,
no harm will befall you....

| Sunday, October 22, 2000 - Visual Feast |
|
Taal looked through his files and found some great stuff that never made it to the page before. Most of this is visual material - read on to learn more! The full Willow trailer is new in The Saga/Willow section, and is also listed in the Articles section. Several existing features are now listed in the Articles/Other Material section for the first time, to make these far-flung items a little easier to find. This section also includes a new article called Building the Perfect Beast, about FX man Phil Tippett, whose creations include the Eborsisk. The Fan Art section has been renamed to just plain Art. The reason for the change is that several production drawings from Industrial Light and Magic: Into the Digital Realm are now part of this section. In addition, a great new piece of fan art by EpicJRG has been added to the collection. The Pictures/Behind the Scenes section now has several photos of brownie stunt doubles Rocky Capella (for Sidney Pollak's Rool) and Mike Martinez (for Rick Overton's Franjean). We'd love to give credit for these photos, but they've been gathering dust in the files for a while, and we can no longer determine where they came from. A big thank-you goes out to the unknown source. Last (and least), I've added a picture of the colorful Japanese Willow movie
ticket to the Merchandise/Miscellaneous section, next to the Japanese theater program.
In the interests of equal time, a U.S. Willow ticket stub has also been added
to this section.
|
| Friday, October 20, 2000 - Cut Scenes |
|
There's something new in the menu bar! A new cut scenes section has been added to the page, with pictures and information about scenes that didn't make it into the final version of the movie. Unless George Lucas decides to release Willow on DVD with these scenes included, this is the closest you're going to come to seeing them! Some of the cut scenes are very cool, so check it out. In conjunction with the inauguration of this new section, there's been a slight revamp of the Articles section, primarily to add a copy of the Willow script for easy reference. This is not the final version of the script, but it's the only version that's readily available - in fact, it's the only version that's on sale at ScriptShop.com. This particular copy comes from Joe Frese (thanks, Joe!). In addition, the Articles section now has links to the two children's books that are
reproduced in full in the Merchandise section. This should make it a little easier to find
these books for those of you who haven't memorized the layout of the whole website.
|
| Friday, October 13, 2000 - Movie Credits/Shadow Star |
|
The full opening and closing movie credits for Willow are now available for viewing in the Miscellanea section. And they're a lot easier to read than the ones on the videotape. The paperback release of Shadow Star occurred just a few days ago, and the Merchandise/Books section has been updated accordingly. The price of the book is a paltry $6.50, so if you don't already own this novel, now is an excellent time to visit your local bookstore and pick up a copy! Finally, one more lobby card has been added to the Merchandise/Posters section.
|
| Monday, October 9, 2000 - Warwick Davis Official Webpage |
|
Here's another interesting new addition to the links section. I just discovered that
The Official Warwick Davis WebSite is online.
It's under construction, and the only thing that's up at the
moment is the title page. Still, it's really exciting to see it getting underway. I have
no idea when more will go online - if past history is any indication, it could be a while.
The Official Website has been in the works for at least a couple of years now. There used
to be a different title page online at a different location, but I think it's been at
least a year since that disappeared. Reportedly, Warwick is doing most of the work on it
himself, but he's a busy guy so it's not surprising that it's taking so much time for the
project to get off the ground.
|
| Wednesday, October 4, 2000 - New Willow Webpage! Check it out! |
|
For the first time in a very long time, there's a new Willow fanpage on the web! The Willow Pages [Obsolete link removed] just went online. It's still under construction, but looks great so far. Until now there were only three major Willow pages on the web, and two of those are inactive. So this new addition is very, very welcome. In other news, the Merchandise/Miscellaneous section has been updated. We received
information on the Willow School Project (thanks to Scott!) and also restored
the picture of this item that was missing.
|
| Saturday, September 30, 2000 - Merchandise updates |
|
A few new items have been added to the Merchandise section. In the Wearables subsection, there's a new, larger picture of the Willow Halloween costume. The Audio subsection has a better picture of the Story of Willow vinyl LP. The Posters subsection has a new picture of a Kraft poster and some German lobby cards. The Miscellaneous subsection now has a picture of the Madmartigan Ziploc card; the picture is of poor quality, but it's better than nothing, which is what we had before. Three new publicity photos and a Willow promo pack have also been added to the Miscellaneous subsection under the Promotional Materials subheading. Update by Connie |
| Wednesday, September 27, 2000 - Picture gallery complete |
|
The Out of Costume section of the picture gallery is now online. This concludes the construction of the Pictures section, at least for now. Update by Connie |
| Sunday, September 24, 2000 - Chronological pictures completed |
|
The Chronological Pictures section is now complete. Newly added subsections 5 through 12 cover the movie from the wagon chase to the end. Update by Connie |
| Friday, September 22, 2000 - Chronological pictures |
|
The first four parts of the chronological picture gallery are now online in the Pictures section. This covers the movie from the beginning until just after Madmartigan's encounter with Llug in the tavern. To be continued..... Update by Connie |
| Thursday, September 21, 2000 - Can you guess? |
|
That's right, still more movie pictures. Parts 8 through 14 are now available for viewing in the Pictures section. And yes, this actually does conclude this phase of the picture gallery construction. HOWEVER...we're not done playing with movie pictures yet. The movie pictures in the initial phase are in random order. It's a webmaster mental health issue - I'd go crazy if I had to try to put all those pictures in movie sequence order! Taking SOME of those pictures and presenting them in chronological order is an easier task, and that's what's next on the agenda. Update by Connie |
| Wednesday, September 20, 2000 - Still more movie pics |
|
Parts 5, 6 and 7 of the movie photos are now online in the Pictures section. Are we done now? Not by a long shot. Update by Connie |
| Tuesday, September 19, 2000 - More movie pics |
|
Parts 2, 3 and 4 of the movie photos are now open for business in the Pictures section. And yes, there is more on the way. Update by Connie |
| Monday, September 18, 2000 - Picture gallery expanded |
|
Two new sections have opened in the picture gallery, namely the Behind the Scenes photos and Part 1 of the movie photos. There are LOTS more movie photos where those came from, so stay tuned! Update by Connie |
| Sunday, September 17, 2000 - Picture gallery added |
|
Yes, there's another new option on the menu bar. The picture gallery brings together photos from throughout the page, and contains a large percentage of new photos as well. This is a big project, and at the moment it's far from finished. For the benefit of everyone (including myself) I've decided to put it online in phases. The gallery will ultimately contain several categories of photos, but right now the only category that's actually up and running is the ILM Photos. The gallery submenu will give you an idea of what else is coming, so check it out! Update by Connie |
| Saturday, September 16, 2000 - New links added |
|
Did you know that Billy Barty (aka the High Aldwin) has an official website? I didn't, until I ran across it today. Also, it was brought to my attention that I failed to provide links to George Lucas' official websites. So you can probably guess what the new additions to the Links section are... Another James Horner link has been added as well. Update by Connie |
| Thursday, September 14, 2000 - New sections opened |
|
Cast your eyes up the page a little, take a good look at the menu bar, and what do you see? Two new menu options! The Miscellanea section is intended to hold all those odd bits of information that don't really fit anywhere else on the page. Its inaugural contents consist of two items. The first is a link to an online petition started by Joe Frese of the Big Big Willow/Shadow Moon Homepage. The petition calls for the DVD release of Willow, and a very deluxe edition at that. This is something that's really important for Willow fans, and I hope that everyone visiting this page will sign it. The second item in Miscellanea resulted from a whim of mine to see how many Willow-related birthdays I could find. I found more than I expected, so I put the information on the page. Ever want to know the age, astrological sign, or Chinese zodiac animal of your favorite Willow star? Well, now you've got the tools to find out. Unfortunately, in the process of digging up this information I ran across some sad news. Patricia Hayes (Raziel) died of natural causes in 1998 at the age of 88. And Ron Tarr (Llug) died of cancer in 1997 at the age of 60. They are gone but not forgotten...their memories will live on as long as there are Willow fans out there. The second new menu option is the Links section, featuring links to other Willow movie pages (all too rare, alas!), pages dedicated to Willow cast and crew members, and the extracurricular projects of Willow.Lucasfan.Com webmasters. You probably haven't seen all of them before - I know I hadn't - so take a look! Update by Connie |
| Monday, September 11, 2000 - Restoration complete! |
|
After a few days of noncooperation, the computer decided to let us post updates again. Although we had to wait for the server to get in a better mood before we could prove we were still on the job, we stayed busy gathering the information for a big update. The Wearables and Miscellaneous sections have been reformatted, completing the work in the Merchandise section. There are a few new pictures in Wearables, and a lot of new pictures in Miscellaneous. There are a couple of modest additions elsewhere in the Merchandise section, too. The Posters section has a new promo poster for the video release, and the Audio section now has the Story of Willow vinyl record album cover. The Articles main menu has been reformatted, and dozens of missing pictures have been restored to the various articles in this section. There's been some other cleanup work in this department as well - that link to the Joanne Whalley interview in the Official Poster Magazine never did work right, but now it's been fixed. And for the first time, the listing of Starlog articles includes an interview with Willow screenplay writer Bob Dolman. At present a very small number of pictures are still missing from various portions of the site. But we hope to have them back soon. Enjoy! Update by Connie |
| Monday, September 4, 2000 - Action Figures reconfigured |
|
In the past, Willow.Lucasfan.Com didn't really have it's own action figures section -
it just had a link to the action figures section of Joe Frese's
Big, Big Willow/Shadow Moon
Homepage. That's all changed now. The Action Figure subsection of the Merchandise
section now features new, bigger scans of all the toys (except some of the vehicles) and
scans of the
packaging, which were not previously available on any Willow website. There are a few
small pieces of new information, too. Be sure to check out the Eborsisk pics!
|
| Sunday, September 3, 2000 - Games section updated |
|
The Merchandise section's Games subsection has been converted to the new format. Most
of the missing links have been restored (the one that's still broken should be fixed soon).
There are a couple new photos of the arcade game, too.
|
| Saturday, September 2, 2000 - The restoration continues |
|
Today I revamped the Video and Children's Literature subsections of the Merchandise section. There's nothing new in Video other than the switch to the new format; however, there are a few new items in Children's Literature. There are a few new scans, but the most exciting item is that the full text of Willow and the Brownies is now online for the first time. About 90% of the story consists of original material not found in the movie or any of the other books. Although it's aimed at young children, Willow fans everywhere will find it highly entertaining. Check it out! The Literature and Posters sections have been switched to the blue-and-white format,
as has the Merchandise main menu. There are no changes to the content of these sections.
|
| Friday, September 1, 2000 - Shadow Star paperback release |
|
Great news! According to Amazon.com, the paperback edition of Shadow Star will be released on October 3, 2000. The retail price will be a very reasonable $6.50. Click here to check it out. In other news, the restoration of the page is continuing. Today I added revamped versions of the Merchandise section's Audio and Books sections. While I was at it, it occurred to me that I ought to convert them to the blue, white and black format that's been instituted elsewhere on the page. So that's what I did. The pictures have also been restored on The Chronicles of Willow in the Articles section. Taal is also working on the restoration. When I come across pictures that I can't restore myself, I tell him about it and he and he uploads them. He's restored the wallpapers in the Fan Art section and other pictures in various locations throughout the page. So it's all progressing nicely, and before too long the page should be fully restored.
|
| Thursday, August 31, 2000 - "Madmartigan, wait!!...we need your help!!" |
|
When Willow needed help in the movie, Madmartigan was always willing to lend a hand. But when help was needed at Willow.Lucasfan.Com, Madmartigan had other plans. Some hero.... So webmaster Taalcon (aka Dave) had to look elsewhere. The newest chapter in the story of this webpage is the addition of me, Connie Green, as co-webmaster. Why me? Well, mainly because I volunteered for the job, but I also have some other qualifications. For a while now I've been contributing to the page in an unofficial capacity; most of the articles in the Articles and numerous items in the Merchandise section came from me. I'm also webmaster of Connie's Warwick Davis Fanpage and Leprechaun Center, so I have previous experience in webpage management. Some time back the love bug virus ate all the pictures on the site, and the page hasn't fully recovered from that. Priority One is to finish restoring the page to its former glory, and after that we'll turn our attention to some new features. So what have I done so far? Not much, actually. This is a big page, and it's going to take some time to bring it back up to speed. I'm starting with the Merchandise section, and this update features a modest revamping of the Posters subsection. I've made the pictures smaller on the Posters main page - it doesn't look as pretty as it did before, but the loading time is significantly faster. I've restored the picture links, so you can get the big picture by clicking on the small one. While I was at it, I added a few new items, namely a Japanese movie poster, three theater lobby cards, and a video promotion poster. Check it out! There are a couple other modest changes. The Encyclopedia section's links to the big maps have been restored. And The Email section has been modified to give you a choice of webmasters to write to. This is only the beginning, so visit us again soon. There's lots more to come!
|
| Tuesday, May 30, 2000 - Want a chance to see WILLOW the way it was meant to be seen? |
Yeah,
the site layout's changed again, for the better, methinks. Just a little
less clunky. Still being worked on, tho - I just got home from college
for the summer! Okay...now on with the info about the Val Kilmer Film Festival
as given to me by one of the coordinators:
![]() The Val Kilmer Film Festival and Convention is an event organized by fans for fans. We rent a theater and movies for a private showing of two Val Kilmer films as they were meant to be seen -- on the big screen, in the theater. We meet in a room at a nearby hotel for a convention. Convention activities include watching rare videos and interview tapes, looking at rare Val Kilmer photos and collectibles, the chance to buy/sell/trade Val Kilmer videos, magazines, photos, etc. and meeting other fans. Any money over expenses is donated to the Native American Preparatory School. The official website for the convention is located here [obsolete link removed]. Any information not covered here can be found there! |
| Friday, May 5, 2000 - "With us as your guide, no harm will befall you!" |
| Unfortunately, the mothership computer didn't have the Brownies as their guides. Folks, we've fallen victim to the LoveBug virus. therefore, every mp3 and jpg has been deleted from this website. This annoys me to no end, and it may take me a day or two to set aside time to re-upload all the needed graphics. I thourougly apologise for the inconvenience, and assure you that no one is more annoyed than I am. Thank you for your patience. |
| Tuesday, April 18, 2000 - More Fan Art |
| Joel Brown submitted a picture of a Willow T-Shirt he made. It's in the Fan Art section, so check it out! If you've created some Willow-art, send it over! |
| Saturday, March 31, 2000 - You lucky USC film students! |
| Well,
someone from USC posted this at AICN:
Lucas
AND the panel (apparently, Lawrence Kasdan will also be in attendence but
suddenly it's a bit shady) will be at USC's Norris Theater on April 12,
following
a screening of Willow @ 6pm. Unfortunately, a ticket system will be
implemented so only registered students can attend. Got any questions you
want to ask? (Besides
On the page where Harry posted the full article about the USC visit, he listed a few questions HE wanted answered (Star Wars based). So if you're a student at USC, and get to ask ol' Uncle George some questions, here's a few of my suggestions! 1)
Willow on DVD - what's up?
Even
if you don't get to ask a question, and you were there, tell us about it!
|
| Friday, March 31, 2000 - Update B - Lots More Merchandise To Look At |
| Follow the link to the Merchandise section above! Thanks to Joe Frese and CH, I've gotten quite a bit more Merchandise pictures and information! I took those, and a few images which I just hadn't posted yet, and added stuff to the Children's Literature section, the Audio section, Launched the Willow.lucasfan.com Wearables Merchandise section, added a poster to Posters, and have quite a few selections added to the Misc. section. So check it out, and then bid on the swag listed in the below update! |

|
| Wednesday, February 23, 2000 - Appeasing The Masses |
| Okay, as a kind of nod to those who can't stand the unbearably long time for the new version of the site to be up, I've re-attatched links to parts of the site that were previously up in the older format. Now, the info in those sections haven't been updated, but they should still have some useful stuff. The Fan-Art section is exactly the same..because no one has sent me anything since! Send me your Willow-related artwork at taalcon@yahoo.com right now to remedy that! But as of now it contains a few cool desktop wallpapers (made by me), a portrait of General Kael (drawn by me), and a rendition of the Sacred Princes by Ian Johnson, a frequent visitor and contributor to the site. The most fun section for me is the THEORIES section, in which we speculated what would be revealed in Shadow Star. Some people were quite dead on! Others..not so dead on. But it's a great read! Also is a review of the Shadow War saga in the reviews section (submit your reviews to me!) Also, the message board got a design revamp! It's A LOT easier to read now! Woohoo! Umm..lessee..oh yeah, the Cut Scenes section..remains not up. Because it was never up in the first place. This is one of the most tedious sections of the site to work on, and requires the most time. That's why it was never up before :) Also, the Willow On DVD campaign I mentioned has entered its preliminary stages. A letter has gone out to Lucasfilm requesting some specific contact information. When/if I get a reply is when the real full-blown campaign will begin! Now go on explorin' and postin' and sendin' me stuff. I HAVEN'T ABANDONED YOU! |
| Tuesday, February 1, 2000 - Patience is a Virtue |
|
Well,
this is kinda a non-update update. Mainly, this is an apologyfor the long
time between updates lately. It's just that school work has to come before
this site, and I have a lot of it. Things would be a lot easier if there
was a willow.lucasfan.com staff (akin to the amazing one ??
has), but alas, it's only me. But, between breaks, I've been talking over
a few things with a friend of mine and fellow-LucasFan that we're developing
for the website. Behind the scenes, work is being done on a much less clunky
design, and all the old parts that are offline are being worked on. Plus,
a few exciting campaigns and special surprises are in the works. However,
instead of posting the redesign as soon as it's ready, I want to have the
site 100% operational when I do, so as to have a major re-launch, without
all these wimpy 'Well, this isn't up..but it will be soon!' excuses I've
been giving. This site claims that it's comprehensive, but when the re-furbish
is done, it truely will be! Also: if some of these exciting campaigns are
to work (IE, if you want Lucasfilm to recognise Willow fans with the merchandise
we want), you need to let lucasfan know that there ARE fans. Not just me
claiming there are. So to show that there ARE fans, I'm gonna have a few
interactive sections where you can show poeple what you want. Also: PLEASE
send me anything creative (Willow-based) that you've done! BE it fan-fiction,
artwork (ESPECIALLY artwork!) or Fan-Videos. ANYTHING! Fanstuff is good!
See you next time there's an update, -Dave PS
- You can always contact me these three ways:
