The Crossroads - A Willow Webpage
FAQ

Will there be a sequel to Willow?
There already is, although it's not on film. In 1995, George Lucas teamed up with comic writer Chris Claremont and developed a trilogy of novels known collectively as The Chronicles of the Shadow War. The books include Shadow Moon, Shadow Dawn, and Shadow Star. For more info, head on over to the Merchandise/Books section and The Saga section.

As for MOVIE sequels and other film-related followups, there is this. In April 2005, Warwick Davis and George Lucas had a conversation backstage at at Star Wars Celebration 3 in Indianapolis. There is a report on this event here on the official Star Wars website. The section that concerns Willow fans says:

Beyond Indy, Lucas also answered a question about another popular Lucasfilm character, Willow Ufgood. His response to a fan who asked about the possibilities of Willow II: "I was actually just talking to Warwick Davis backstage, and we were communing on the possibility, wouldn't it be wonderful to someday do a Willow TV series. I can't say that we'll do that, but, [Lucasfilm] is moving into television, and a lot of ideas are popping up."

Then in May 2005, Warwick talked about their conversation in an interview on The Boston Channel. The article said:

"When I got to talk with him, I asked, 'What about Willow, George?" People are crying out for another movie. I get asked about it all of the time," Davis explained. "He said, 'There probably won't be another movie, but we have thought about doing a TV series.' He said, 'That would keep you busy, wouldn't it?' Actually, the fans asked him the same question and he gave them the same response."

So does this mean that someday we'll get a Willow TV series? Time alone will tell, but it's interesting that George had considered the idea before he and Warwick talked about it. It appears to me that at the moment Lucasfilm is more focused on developing a Star Wars TV series, but if that is successful then who knows what could happen next?

Is WILLOW on DVD?

Willow was released on DVD by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on November 27, 2001. See the Merchandise/Video section for information.

Where can I get WILLOW on videotape?
A remastered VHS was re-released from Twentieth Century Fox on November 27, 2001 to coincide with the Special Edition DVD release. See the Merchandise/Video section for information. Amazon.com and other online sellers have it.

If you prefer an older edition, your best bet is to go to the auctions on eBay and do a search for "Willow Lucas" or "Willow movie" or something similar. You can choose whether to search just the auction titles or the descriptions as well. Searching for "Willow" alone will bring up a morass of unrelated stuff to wade through, so choose your search string with care. Old copies of Willow are always available on eBay, ranging in quality from mint in unopened shrinkwrap to battered ex-rental copies, and you can normally get a copy at a reasonable price.

Where can I get WILLOW merchandise?
Willow merchandise is long gone from the stores, but that doesn't mean you can't get it. Go to the auctions on eBay and choose your search string with care. There are all kinds of goodies available, and if you check the listings regularly and have enough cash you can get just about anything.

Was WILLOW ever available in widescreen?
The Special Edition DVD is in widescreen format. In other media, the answer is yes and no. It was never released in widescreen on VHS in NTSC format, only pan-and-scan. Lucky Europeans were able to get widescreen VHS copies in PAL format, however. A THX laserdisc was temporarily available in the US (and a non-THX version in Europe) in widescreen. The opening sequence of the 2001 VHS is in widescreen, switching to pan and scan when Elora's raft comes to rest on the riverbank.

Can you give my letter to George Lucas?
Sorry, no. I do not personally know George Lucas and have no way of getting anything to him. Any email you send to me will be seen by myself alone. Neither George Lucas nor any member of Lucasfilm Ltd. will see it. This is a FAN SITE only, and is not official in any way.
