CUT SCENES

Poetry at Nockmaar

As the battle of Nockmaar commences, Madmartigan takes a moment to declare his love for Sorsha, using the same language he used earlier in her tent.

I'm pleased that this scene was cut. This is a deadly serious battle. The life of Elora Danan and the fate of the world hinge on the outcome. It simply isn't the time or place for romance, and this bit of indulgence would have trivialized the movie's ultimate battle.

Late Script Excerpt

Madmartigan leads the assault as the minions run out to defend the fortress. Sorsha slides off her horse with Raziel.

MADMARTIGAN: Sorsha! You are my moon, my sun, my stars!

Sorsha gives him a look.

SORSHA: Madmartigan...!

MADMARTIGAN: I mean it.

Leaning down from his horse he gives her the kiss of a lifetime. Then Sorsha leads Willow and Raziel toward a hallway.

Novelization Excerpt

Sorsha slipped Fin Raziel off her horse at the foot of a broad staircase and then dismounted herself, giving Rak [the horse] a slap on the rump that sent him back out through the gates and away from the fighting. A moment later, Madmartigan found her there. He was laughing as he reached to embrace her. "Sorsha, you are my moon, my sun, my stars!"

"What? Not again!"

"I mean it! You are!" He drew her close and kissed her.

Then the Nockmaars sallied down the ramp and the fight swirled close. His horse shied and pranced away. Airk galloped up and lowered Willow to the ground. Then the two friends rode together, their swords whirling, cutting down a charge of five Nockmaar troopers.

Junior Novelization Excerpt

Madmartigan led the assault against the Nockmaar minions who poured out of the gates and doorways to defend the fortress. Sorsha slid off her mount with Raziel.

"Sorsha!" Madmartigan shouted. "You are my moon, my sun, my stars!"

Sorsha turned, glaring at him. "Madmartigan--!"

"I mean it," he said. He leaped down from his own horse and gave her a kiss to last a lifetime. Then he swung back into the saddle to join the battle. Sorsha looked after him for a long moment, with her fingers touching her lips. Then she led Willow and Raziel into the labyrinthine heart of the castle.
