Leprechaun in the Hood Early Script

By Douglas L. Hall for Trimark Pictures, Spring 1999:

  • Part 1 - The Beginning through The Robbery at Mack Daddy's
  • Part 2 - Mack Daddy Wakes Up through The Boys' Arrival at Fontaine's
  • Part 3 - The Party at Fontaine's through Confronting Mack Daddy in the Church
  • Part 4 - The Capture of the Leprechaun through The End
Variations from the movie are NOT marked; you really need to read the whole thing!

If you thought the movie was funny, wait until you read this script! If you've watched the whole Leprechaun series, you've probably noticed that Lep in the Hood has a much more serious tone than the other films, although it still has some great comedy moments. This script is NOT serious like the movie; it looks like they were taking more of a pure comedy approach in the early stages, although it's still recognizable as being the same story. This script is hilarious; the current movie is great, but I wish they'd do a remake using this script so we could have both versions!

The July 99 script, which was written several months later than this one, retains a considerable amount of the humor from this version and even adds some of its own, but reflects a more serious tone overall.

It isn't possible to put a precise date on this script, but it's from the Spring of 1999. The script contains several extra characters, and in this version the rap group has four members, not three.

For most of the scripts posted on the webpage, I've marked the major variations from the movie in red to make things easier for those of you who are short of time. I have NOT done that for this script. There are just too many differences and besides, you really need to read the whole thing to get a proper feel for it.

The lyrics and placement of the Leprechaun rap are very different in this script than they are in the movie; you can see for yourself in Part 2 above. The July 99 script uses the same placement and lyrics but both scripts have accompanying action that is very different from the movie and somewhat different from each other.
