LEPRECHAUNIAN RULES FOR LEPRECHAUN II
THREE WISHES: Any mortal who traps a Leprechaun must be granted three wishes. Usually the mortal will ask the Leprechaun for his famed "Pot o'Gold."
POT O'GOLD: Leprechauns have a pot o'gold, which they must hand over to any mortal trapping them, upon demand. However, Leprechauns are greedy and will try, through trickery, to get their gold back at any cost.
MAGIC GOLD SHILLING: Among his gold possessions is a gold coin of special properties. Anyone who possesses this piece cannot be harmed.
KILLING: A Leprechaun is greedy and very possessive. He will kill anyone that comes between him and his gold. He will also bring harm to anyone trying to fool with his wife, a prized "possession" to a Leprechaun.
TRICKS: Leprechauns can conjure things or people, to use for tricking humans.
- Leprechauns exhibit telekinetic abilities. (Like "Carrie") they can make things float and travel through the air, upon mental command. He can also animate the inanimate.
- A Leprechaun can change his voice to sound like anyone else.
- A Leprechaun can make himself, or anyone he wants, invisible.
DESTROYING A LEPRECHAUN:
1 - A Leprechaun is in fact mortal and can be killed like anyone else, however tricking
him into being killed is nearly impossible.
2 - Wrought iron will burn a Leprechaun (i.e. If you want to hold a Leprechaun, use wrought iron "cage").
3 - Leprechauns love liquor. They can be enticed by the alcohol and will get drunk. However, the Leprechaun's metabolism is magical. They can consume much more alcohol than mortals and they can sober up much faster than a mortal.
MARRIAGE: Leprechauns can only marry every thousand years on their thousandth birthday, if they catch the mortal lass of their choice and have her sneeze three times without anyone saying "God bless you." At that point, magically, a ring appears on her finger and a shackle around her neck.
- Leprechauns will take their brides to their mythical land once they catch their brides.
HOME: The mythical homeland can be reached through the Leprechaun lair, which is a cave-like place, built in the ground beneath the roots of trees.
A Leprechaun will not go to his mythical land without his complete Pot O'Gold. The gold within his "Pot" includes any piece of gold that the Leprechaun picked up while in this world.
LAIR OR "PIT OF HELL": The Leprechaun's lair is a magical place. Mortals can get in, but the lair, appearances to the contrary, is like a labyrinth. The way out is never where you think it is (i.e. The walkway one uses to get into the lair is not the way out, when you turn around and retrace your steps to get out. It changes, much like the Leprechaun, to trick the mortal within.)
CHARACTERS
LEPRECHAUN: 2000 years old. A frightening, mischievous villain. He's arrived in Los Angeles to claim his bride. He'll kill anyone that steals his gold or stands in the way of him taking his bride. Finds humor in the misery he can cause his victims.
CODY: 16 years old. Our hero. Streetwise and charming. A bit of a hustler and con artist, but not a criminal. The cool outsider at school. He's secretly in love with Bridget.
BRIDGET: 16 years old. Very attractive. Strong willed teenager. She's no damsel in distress. Hip. Popular, but not obnoxious about it.
ALDEN: Cody's mentor. 50's. A drinker with an obsessive interest in the occult and the macabre. Secretly driven by greed. Taught Cody everything he knows about making a buck.
LYLE: 18. Big Man on Campus. Considers himself a ladykiller. Raging hormones. A bit of a brute.
LESLIE: 35-ish. Cody's aunt and legal guardian. Has taken care of Cody for the past five years, ever since his parents died in a car accident. Works at Malibu Grand Prix as a manager. Does her best bringing up her nephew.
A NOTE ABOUT TONE IN LEPRECHAUN II: The tone of Leprechaun II will be
nightmarish. It'll be a frightening, at times horrifying, journey, tightly woven
into a fast paced, suspense-filled tale, in which a young man must battle a
malevolent force, much greater than him, to save the woman he loves.
ACT I
SCENE 1: PROLOGUE - DARK NIGHT, FULL MOON, MIST. IN THE PAST.
A MORTAL SLAVE carves his initials, "W.M.", on a tree in the medieval Irish countryside. The slave's master, a LEPRECHAUN, suddenly appears. The small creature reprimands the slave for carving on his home and tells him that they have business to take care of.
Today is the Leprechaun's 1000th birthday and he must find a bride. If the lass of his choice sneezes three times without anyone saying "God bless you," he'll snatch her up and take her away to his mythical land. Once doing so, the mortal slave will have his freedom.
The slave is overjoyed at the news, until he finds out the woman the Leprechaun has chosen is the slave's DAUGHTER. The slave knows that once you become a Leprechaun's wife, it's forever. She will never return from where the Leprechaun is going to take her. The slave doesn't want that future for his daughter.
(NOTE: Sequence will be played for maximum suspense.)
The Leprechaun arrives to capture his bride. After she sneezes twice, the slave says "God bless you" and spoils the Leprechaun's plans. Now, the Leprechaun must wait a thousand years before he's able to claim a bride again. He's not happy about it.
(Note: This sequence will be both suspenseful and terrifying.)
The Leprechaun dispenses with the mortal slave and disappears, announcing that, in a thousand years, he'll claim one of the slave's descendants as his bride. The slave's daughter is left, crying over her father's death. We CLOSE UP on a CLADA PENDANT around her neck.
TITLES: (OVER CLADA PENDANT)
SCENE 2:
ST. PATRICK'S DAY, A THOUSAND YEARS LATER. HOLLYWOOD BLVD.
Outside GRAVELINE TOURS (tours of famous Hollywood murders, death sites, etc.). We meet CODY, a teenage high school sophomore, selling Graveline Tour tickets to tourists. This kid has real street smarts and could sell ice to Eskimoes.
We meet his classmate/buddy BRIDGET, an extremely attractive sixteen year old. She wears the same clada pendant around her neck and looks exactly like the mortal slave's sister [Note from Connie: this is an uncorrected item left over from an earlier version of the story, when the intended bride was the slave's sister instead of his daughter] from a thousand years ago.
(NOTE: Bridget will be played by the same actress used in the prologue.)
Cody secretly loves Bridget, but she thinks they're just friends. She visits to pick up some passes from Cody for MALIBU GRAND PRIX, a go cart amusement park. (Cody has offered to go get the passes from his aunt, who works as a manager at this park).
Cody has a HEARSE full of MID WESTERN TOURISTS, ready to take the tour. Cody and Bridget go off to get the tour guide at the storefront office.
SCENE 3: QUICK SHOT IN ALDEN'S HOME/OFFICE
Inside the loft of Graveline Tours, they look for ALDEN, the owner/tour guide. This place looks like a medieval "Chamber of Horrors." The office, decorated with horror paraphernalia, is empty. Cody knows where Alden is.
SCENE 4: STREET
Cody and Bridget cross the street to O'Brien's pub.
SCENE 5: O'BRIEN'S PUB
Inside, Cody and Bridget find Alden seated at the bar, totally smashed. It being St. Patrick's Day, Alden's been hitting the Jameson's a little hard. It's here we first establish Alden's greed.
(NOTE: Alden's drunk as he tries to sell the bartender O'BRIEN on his dream franchise of Graveline Tours International.)
Alden's too drunk to drive. Cody walks up to O'Brien and orders the "usual."
O'Brien automatically gives Cody a bucket of ice, a routine they've gone through many times before. Cody drags his boss and the bucket of ice into the bathroom at the back of the bar.
SCENE 6: BAR BATHROOM
Having filled the sink with ice and water, Cody holds Alden's head in the ice bath. No use. Alden's toast. Cody takes it upon himself to conduct the tour, even though he doesn't have a driver's license.
SCENE 7: OUTSIDE GRAVELINE OFFICE
Cody informs Bridget about what he's going to do. She asks him if he knows how to conduct a tour. He pulls out a stack of three by five cue cards, researched and written by Alden. No problem. Bridget likes his chutzpah. She takes a lift from our "unlicensed hero" to the Malibu Grand Prix. Bridget tells Cody that she's going to meet some FRIENDS there.
SCENE 8: TOUR
Cody gives Bridget a lift to Malibu Grand Prix in the tour HEARSE and impresses her with his wit as he conducts a funny tour, making stuff up as he goes along. Light moments.
Cody crosses paths with a POLICE CAR. Nervously, he passes them, since he doesn't have his license. He eludes them.
SCENE 9: RUINS OF HOUDINI'S MANSION
Cody passes Houdini's mansion on Laurel Canyon. Using the cue cards, Cody reads to the tourists that this is a haunted place.
The hearse drives off. Camera stays on an OLD DRUNK on the premises. He leans up against the tree with the initials "W.M." scarring the bark. On the tree, a plaque reads, "A GIFT TO OUR FRIEND, HARRY HOUDINI, FROM THE CITY OF KILLARNEY."
Without warning, the ground rumbles. The old drunk's quart bottle of OLDE ENGLISH malt liquor jumps from his hands and rolls to the base of the tree. It's open end gets stuck in a hole near the roots of the tree. The liquor is sucked out of the bottle and into the hole. The old drunk looks down confused. He goes to pick it up, but it's stuck. He pulls and pulls and pulls, finally yanking the empty bottle free.
Suddenly, the tree cracks in half. The Leprechaun climbs out from the darkness below. He lets out a satisfied belch and then he announces that he's come to claim his bride. The Leprechaun notices the old drunk's GOLD TOOTH. Wielding magic, the Leprechaun entwines the terrified old drunk with tree branches, holding him in place. The Leprechaun then rips the gold tooth from the old drunk's mouth.
The Leprechaun conjures up his POT O'GOLD. It appears in his hand and he drops the tooth into it. His pot o'gold is filled with gold coins, trinkets, etc.
SCENE 10: EXT. MALIBU GRAND PRIX
In a short scene, Cody goes to the manager's office at the Malibu Grand Prix. There we meet his aunt, LESLIE, his legal guardian since his parents died. In the corner sits the Grand Prix's mascot/guard dog, a Rottweiler named ANDRETTI.
After putting the day's receipts in the office safe, Leslie hands Cody the passes for Bridget.
SCENE 11: MALIBU GRAND PRIX ENTRANCE
Back at the ticket booth, Cody gives Bridget the passes. He makes an ass of himself trying to impress Bridget as she meets up with her FRIENDS, a group of Hollywood High rough youths (grunge, hip-hoppers, 90's "greasers"). Bridget politely says goodbye to Cody and goes into the park.
Cody is left behind, sadly. Suddenly, Cody sees his aunt coming out of the manager's office. Thinking quickly as he dodges her. After all, he's driving a hearse without a license. The anxious Mid Western Tourists ask why they're stopped at the Grand Prix. Cody responds dryly, "Um... this is where James Dean crashed and died."
SCENE 12: STREET
Cody, upset over his inability to be honest with Bridget about his feelings, drives through a stop sign and gets arrested by the same cops whom he ran into earlier.
SCENE 13: POLICE STATION
Cody is bailed out at the police station by his aunt, Leslie. Alden, now somewhat sober, arrives to pick up his hearse.
In the background, we see the drunk with the missing tooth raving about a midget dressed in green that came out of a tree and took his gold tooth at the ruins of Houdini's mansion. The cops toss him in the can for the night, not believing a word. Cody notices the way the old man is treated. Leslie comments on the man's crazy/drunken ravings. Alden defends the old man to Cody. He believes that Leprechauns do exist. Cody just laughs it off.
SCENE 14: HOUDINI'S RUINS, TREE
The Leprechaun conjures a magic crystal. It appears in the palm of his hand. The crystal pulsates, an iridescent blue. He asks the crystal where his beloved is and tosses it up in the air. The crystal floats in front of the Leprechaun, spinning like a compass. The pointed end of the crystal eventually stops and points in the "right" direction.
(NOTE: The tone of this scene will have a menacing creepiness to it.)
SCENE 15: CODY'S APARTMENT
(NOTE: The following information will be revealed subtextually over an interesting piece of business for the characters. Cody's aunt talks to him about his arrest. She is understanding. We find out that Cody's parents are dead and that his aunt is his guardian. Cody seems distracted. His aunt notices his mood and asks what's wrong. Cody tells her about his true feelings for Bridget. The aunt struggles with how to talk to her nephew, but decides on advising Cody to simply tell Bridget the truth.)
Inspired, Cody sets off to talk to Bridget on his Vespa.
SCENE 16: OUTSIDE BRIDGET'S HOUSE
Meanwhile, outside Bridget's house, LYLE, one of Bridget's "friends," has driven her home. On her doorstep, Lyle tries to get a little too close. He's coming on too strong and she's getting in over her head. This guy wants to score in a big way. Bridget doesn't like this, so she tells him to leave. Lyle does. Bridget goes inside.
Hidden, the Leprechaun watches, angered at Lyle making moves on his future wife.
SCENE 17: OUTSIDE BRIDGET'S HOUSE
Lyle, all hot and bothered, walks away from the house. He hears a noise. Turning around, he sees the garage door fly open. Inside, Lyle sees Bridget, calling to him. She seduces Lyle to come closer.
Again we see the Leprechaun hidden watching. We establish here that he has conjured up an image of Bridget to conceal a woodchipper (or some other menacing power tool TBD.)
Wrapping her arms around him, Bridget's illusion starts to kiss Lyle. In the heat of passion, Lyle starts to feel excruciating pain.
The Leprechaun appears and warns Lyle about moving in on Bridget, the Leprechaun's bride to be. Lyle screams. In shadows we see Lyle's death.
(NOTE: The Leprechaun has used his magic to transform the wood chipper into an image of Bridget. A deadly illusion.)
SCENE 18: BRIDGET'S HOUSE
The doorbell rings. Lyle calls to Bridget through the door. He offers an apology. She's reluctant to open the door. Lyle then begs her to let him in. With caution, Bridget opens the door. It's not Lyle... it's the Leprechaun.
(NOTE: The previous scene will be played for terror and tension, as we know that Lyle is not behind the door.)
The Leprechaun announces that he's taking Bridget as his wife. Using dust, the Leprechaun makes her sneeze three times. Magically, a ring appears on her finger and a shackle around her neck. Bridget is his forever. The Leprechaun laughs with delight. At last he's got a bride.
The Leprechaun conjures up his pot o'gold to impress his new bride. Thinking quickly, she kicks it out of his hands, sending gold coins skittering everywhere across the floor. Bridget runs from the room and out the front door. There she bumps into...
Cody, flowers in hand, who's come to visit and win Bridget's affections. She's screaming about this "creepy little guy" that wants to make her his bride. Confused, yet gallantly, Cody goes to Bridget's room to confront this "creepy little guy."
As Cody battles the Leprechaun, the Leprechaun impedes Bridget from escaping.
(NOTE: There will be no hand to hand fighting here between our hero and the Leprechaun.)
FInally, Cody ends up searching for the Leprechaun in Bridget's room.
Cody scans the quiet room. On Bridget's bed, amongst many stuffed animals, the Leprechaun sits still. He looks like one of the dools. Suddenly, behind Cody, the door to the room slams shut. Cody turns to it. When he turns back to the bed, the Leprechaun is gone. The door to the room flies open again.
There stands the Leprechaun. He warns Cody to stay clear. No mortal will stop him this time from taking his bride. After tonight, the lass is never coming back. With that said, the door slams shut, trapping Cody behind a locked door in Bridget's room. Cody struggles to open the door then looks out the keyhole at Bridget and the Leprechaun. They disappear into thin air. Their invisible feet leave imprints in the carpet as they walk out of the house.
Frustrated, Cody pounds on the door. It's locked. In his search for a way out, Cody finds a MAGIC GOLD SHILLING which the Leprechaun dropped from his pot o'gold. Cody pockets it. Cody tries the door again. Now that the Leprechaun is gone, it opens.
ACT II
SCENE 1: PIT OF HELL
The Leprechaun takes Bridget to his lair, an underground cave, below the cracked tree at the ruins to Houdini's mansion. He shows her around and explains how he came over in the tree from Ireland and how he's been waiting for this day for a thousand years.
Now that Bridget is his bride, he will take her off to the mythical land forever, where essentially she'll be his slave.
Bridget, pissed off at the Leprechaun, rushes him with a rock in hand. The Leprechaun waves his hands at her and Bridget flies up in the air in a prone position. She floats there, unable to fight back. The Leprechaun warns her to stop her nonsense. Having warned her, the Leprechaun brings Bridget back down. She's his wife, and she better start acting like an obedient one.
Suddenly, the Leprechaun realizes that his magic gold shilling is missing. He will not leave without it, so he decides to go back to reclaim his coin. He leaves Bridget trapped within his lair, giving her some work to do.
Bridget notices cockroaches and maggots lining the floor of the lair. Terrified, she decides she wants out of this place, so when the Leprechaun is gone she searches for an exit. Unfortunately, the lair is a labyrinth. Just when you think you've found your way out, you're back where you started.
(NOTE: This scene introduction to the lair will be terrifying, hellish and nightmarish.)
SCENE 2: BRIDGET'S HOUSE
COPS arrive. Bridget's PARENTS are home from a night out. They find that Bridget is gone and Lyle has been killed. The only clue they have is the flowers left by Cody. A note signed and attached to the bouquet incriminates our hero.
SCENE 3: BRIDGET'S ROOM
The Leprechaun can't find the magic shilling in Bridget's room. From the window, he watches the police talking and reading the note left by Cody. The Leprechaun conjures up a gust of wind, whisking the note from the officers' hands. It flies up through the window to the Leprechaun. He reads the note and knows Cody has his coin.
SCENE 4: HOLLYWOOD BLVD. GRAVELINE TOURS
Here we see another example of Alden's obsessive greed.
(Ending a Graveline tour, Alden is trying to convince some Asian tourists to invest in his franchise, Graveline Tours International. He shows them brochures and explains his plans, but the Asians aren't sold on the venture.)
Alden's pitch is interrupted by a manic Cody. Alden does his utmost to send the teenager away. But when Cody explains about the little man dressed in green and shows Alden the gold coin, Alden understands.
(NOTE: This bit will be less than half a page.)
SCENE 5: ALDEN'S HOME/OFFICE
At Alden's place, Alden believes Cody's story about the Leprechaun, especially after seeing the magic shilling. With his interest in the macabre and the occult, it turns out that Alden has a library of information regarding our villain.
(NOTE: Here we establish the Leprechaun rules. See LEPRECHAUNIAN RULES FOR LEPRECHAUN II sheets above.)
Cody tells Alden that he didn't go to the cops or his aunt for fear that he'd be treated much like the old bum was at the police station. Alden agrees with his decision. Bridget's life is in danger. When a Leprechaun makes a woman his bride, she's literally enslaved forever and is taken to his mythical land. Alden explains that if he'd gone to the cops, it would've taken too long to save Bridget. Time is something they don't have. Alden insists that he and Cody must plan her rescue on their own if they hope to save Bridget. Cody agrees.
All of a sudden, the Leprechaun makes his appearance. In a frightening game of cat and mouse, the Leprechaun chases Cody and Alden around Alden's "office of horrors." The Leprechaun brings to life medieval torture devices that hunt our heroes in a terrifying sequence. In the end, Cody helps Alden escape.
(NOTE: This scene will be both horrifying and suspenseful.)
SCENE 6: STREET OUTSIDE ALDEN'S OFFICE/HOME
Alden and Cody leave the office and run across the street into the crowded, festively decorated pub.
SCENE 7: O'BRIEN'S PUB
Alden and Cody enter the pub. This being a crowded place they feel safer. It's St. Patty's Day, and the celebration is in high gear. Alden drags Cody into the bathroom in the back.
SCENE 8: BATHROOM
Alden looks under the stall, making sure they're alone. No one's there. Alden tells Cody to keep it down in the bar for fear of someone overhearing. He tells Cody that all they need is a plan, and Alden has one. He tells Cody to meet him back at the bar. Alden leaves. Cody stays behind. He locks the door behind Alden and composes himself when...
Two shoe click down off the toilet. Cody freezes. There is someone in the stall. The shoes are green and they have buckles. Cody fumbles with the door. The stall door opens. The silhouette of the Leprechaun stands in the stall doorway. He steps out. It's not the Leprechaun we've seen before. He's an African American little person dressed as a Leprechaun. Cody lets out a sigh. The little person has been hire as "atmosphere" for the the St. Patrick's Day bash at O'Brien's.
(NOTE: This sequence will be played for suspense, as we think the Leprechaun is going to attack Cody.)
The little person comes up to Cody and hands him several gold pieces. "It's real milk chocolate," syas the little person. Cody undoes the wrapping around one of the gold pieces. It's chocolate. Cody takes a bite as the little person leaves.
SCENE 9: O'BRIEN'S PUB
Cody steps out of the bathroom. He bumps into another little person dressed as a Leprechaun. He then sees another and another. There are several mock Leprechauns who have been hired to work at the bar for the holiday.
(NOTE: The tone of this will be both nightmarish and creepy.)
Cody goes back up to Alden at the bar to discuss their next move. The mentor tells our hero that they need to go to the Leprechaun's lair. That's where they can catch him. Cody asks how the hell they're going to find the lair. Alden smiles, reminding Cody about the old drunk at the police station mentioning the ruins to Houdini's mansion.
Suddenly, two police officers arrive. (The same ones from both the scenes at the police station and at Bridget's house.) Cody falls back into the crowd so as not to be seen.
Cody and Alden prepare to leave the bar, when Alden notices something. The real Leprechaun is sitting at the end of the bar, watching them menacingly. Sitting still, his eyes riveted on the little villain, Alden tells Cody to take his seat. Getting a call, the police officers rush out, leaving our heroes with the villain.
The Leprechaun approaches them. Anything could happen. He comes over threateningly and demands his gold. Cody says he won't give it up until Bridget is returned. Angrily, the Leprechaun says that she's his wife.
Alden seizes the moment and mentions to the rest of the bar that the Leprechaun just got married. The other Leprechauns gather around their little brother and buy him some drinks. Taken off guard, the Leprechaun drinks his shots of whiskey. He never takes his menacing eyes off of Cody and Alden and our heroes never take their eyes off of the Leprechaun.
Anxiously, yet quietly, Cody asks Alden when they'll grab the Leprechaun and force him to hand over Bridget. Alden tells Cody that he's calling the shots. They must pace themselves wisely or else they'll end up dead. Cody lets Alden lead. The mentor keeps pouring shots for the Leprechaun.
SCENE 10: O'BRIEN'S PUB. TIME ELAPSES
Alden, Cody and the now drunk Leprechaun are the last three people in the bar. O'Brien the bartender wants to close up. Alden tells him to go in the back and bring out a final bottle for the road. The bartender obliges.
Once they're alone, Alden makes a move on the drunk Leprechaun. He grabs him. Suddenly, the jukebox starts up. Alden and Cody turn towards it. When they turn back... Alden is holding a bar stool. The Leprechaun has magically disappeared.
Alden throws the barstool down angrily. They're going to have to capture him in a way that he can't escape. Alden reveals that only cold wrought iron will hold a Leprechaun. But where will they find that? Cody has the answer.
SCENE 11: PIT OF HELL
Meanwhile, at the Leprechaun's lair, Bridget is still trying desperately to find a way out of the maze. She doesn't. Along the way, she gathers "weapons" (rocks, tree roots, etc.) with which she hopes to defeat the Leprechaun when he returns.
SCENE 12: HEARSE OUTSIDE CODY'S APARTMENT
Cody tells Alden that there's a wrought iron safe at his aunt's office at the Malibu Grand Prix. He's going to get the key and combination from his aunt.
But there are police officers keeping an eye on the apartment building. Cody must fake them out.
SCENE 13: CODY'S APARTMENT
Using some trickery, Cody fakes out the cops and goes up to his apartment. There he must get his aunt's keys and the combination to the safe.
SCENE 14: PHONEBOOTH OUTSIDE CODY'S APARTMENT
It's here we learn Alden's true motive. He only wants to catch the Leprechaun and get his pot o'gold.
(Alden uses a phonebooth to place a call. Holding the brochures for Graveline Tours International, he lets the person on the other end know that he's ready to go. In the morning he'll have the money to make his franchise dream a reality.)
Cody comes back downstairs, eluding the cops again. He has the key and the combination. He asks Alden why the Leprechaun hasn't shown up. Alden explains that there's no time to ponder the question. They've got to move fast and get the safe.
SCENE 15: INSOMNIA CAFE
At this chic Hollywood java hangout, the Leprechaun is downing his umpteenth double espresso, trying to sober up. The MELROSE-HIP WAITER, wearing a Nicole Miller silk tie, comments on the Leprechaun's poor taste in clothes. He then tells the Leprechaun to pay up. It's closing time and this "waiter with an attitude" wants to go home. The Leprechaun asks, "You want me gold?" The waiter says, "Yeah. Gold card, Visa, Master Card, whatever." Big mistake!
In a suspense filled, horrifying, special effects manner, the Leprechaun kills the waiter. The Leprechaun, sobered, goes on his way.
SCENE 16: MALIBU GRAND PRIX, MAIN OFFICE
Cody and Alden arrive at the office. Andretti, the guard dog/mascot, trots over to Cody and licks his hand. He goes back to the corner and lies down. Cody crosses to the safe and opens it up. They start moving the safe with a handtruck, when... surprise!... They hear footsteps outside. The footsteps belong to two COPS.
SCENE 17: EXT. MALIBU GRAND PRIX
The cops pull guns on our heroes. They lead them outside to their patrol car. All of a sudden, driving a meancing "Mad Max Go Cart from Hell," the Leprechaun appears. In an exciting, horrific chase, the Leprechaun hunts down and kills the two cops, who are firing at him. The Leprechaun then goes after Cody and Alden.
SCENE 18: MALIBU GRAND PRIX TRACK
Cody and Alden are on the run. They split up. Running, Cody trips on one of the automobile tires that surround the go cart track. Suddenly, an engine roars. Two small headlights shine into Cody's eyes. It's the Leprechaun. He yells out "I want me coin!". The go cart's wheels burn rubber. Cody tries to get up, but he stumbles. The Mad Max car speeds toward Cody. Our hero closes his eyes, waiting for the impact. The car is on him. It screeches to a stop, just inches from Cody's head. The Leprechaun repeats: "I want me coin." Cody says "Not until you let Bridget go." The engine revs.
Behind him, the Leprechaun suddenly hears Andretti the guard dog growling. The Leprechaun turns towards the guard dog, who stops growling, his ears perk up. Whimpering, Andretti runs away. When the Leprechaun looks back at Cody, our hero is gone.
The Leprechaun chases Alden. The mentor is trapped. Suddenly, the Leprechaun hears Cody.
Cody stands in the manager's office, visible through the window in the door. He holds up the Leprechaun's coin. The Leprechaun sees it from outside.
The Leprechaun approaches the door to the manager's office and demands the coin from Cody. Cody says he wants Bridget first. The Leprechaun tries the door, it's locked. Again Cody makes his demand. The Leprechaun notices a "doggie door" in the bottom half of the door. Smiling mischievously, the Leprechaun enters through the "doggie door" to attack Cody.
The door to the office swings open. On the other side of the "doggie door" is the wrought iron safe. Cody has pushed the safe in front of the "doggie door" and conned the Leprechaun into the safe. Quickly, Cody slams the door to the safe shut and locks it, trapping the villain inside.
(NOTE: This scene will be played with suspense and terror.)
SCENE 19: MALIBU GRAND PRIX, MAIN OFFICE
The Leprechaun calls to be let out. Alden tells Cody to go bring the hearse to the door of the office. They're going to take the Leprechaun to the lair and force him to release Bridget.
While Cody goes to get the car, Alden is left alone with the Leprechaun to fulfill his true agenda. He wants the Leprechaun to grant him his legendary three wishes.
The Leprechaun admits that he must oblige, but asks to be let out of the safe. Alden, thinking he's smarter and knowing a Leprechaun's tricks, refuses. First, Alden wants his wishes. The Leprechaun gives in. Alden's first wish is for the Leprechaun's famed pot o'gold.
The Leprechaun grants Alden his first wish. Alden's stomach begins to grow. Alden writhes in excruciating pain, realizing that the pot o'gold is inside of him! He falls to the floor in agony. The Leprechaun requests that he be let out of the safe before granting any more wishes. Alden goes over to the safe and lets out the little bastard.
Alden wishes that the pot o'gold was not inside him anymore. The Leprechaun grants Alden his second wish. He conjures a knife and slits Alden's belly open. Gold coins spill out onto the floor. The Leprechaun smiles, "I bet you wish you didn't have me gold now?". Alden, in pain, nods. The Leprechaun grants Alden his third wish. The pot o'gold disappears.
Alden's out of luck and out of wishes. The Leprechaun vanishes, leaving him to die.
Cody arrives in the hearse and enters the office. He sees Alden dying in front of the open safe. He runs to his side. Alden apologizes for his greed.
Alden then explains that keeping the magic gold shilling is Cody's only hope. It protects Cody from the Leprechaun's wrath. The Leprechaun can only trick him out of it. He cannot take the coin from Cody. The mentor dies.
SCENE 20: MALIBU GRAND PRIX
Cody gets in the hearse and drives off.
ACT III
SCENE 1: HEARSE AND STREETS
As Cody races to Houdini's, he realizes he's not alone in the hearse. The Leprechaun is getting a free ride, pulling tricks on Cody every step of the way. (Changing traffic lights, throwing illusions of his aunt, Lyle and others in front of him, blowing out his tires, etc.)
The hearse crashes into a wrought iron fence as it nears the ruins.
SCENE 2: HOUDINI'S RUINS
Dazed, Cody gets out of the hearse. The Leprechaun is not there. A bar from the wrought iron fence lies on the hood of the car. Its spear like tip would serve as a good weapon. Cody grabs it and heads for the tree.
SCENE 3: PIT OF HELL
Cody goes to the lair to save Bridget, but the Leprechaun is waiting. As Cody searches for Bridget in the maze, the Leprechaun taunts and throws every trick he's got in Cody's way. The Leprechaun disappears and reappeas, taunting Cody by yelling "I want me coin." Suddenly, a wall of fire appears in front of Cody. Realizing that it's an illusion, Cody goes through it.
As Cody turns a corner of the labyrinth, the ground opens up. Cody jumps and hangs on the other side. Below him, an endless pit waits to swallow him up. Cody pulls himself up and the ground closes behind him.
Cody walks down a dark passage and feels something on his back. He turns and realizes that he's covered in a sea of cockroaches and maggots. Cody shakes them off and proceeds deeper into the maze, calling out to Bridget.
Finally, Cody reaches Bridget. She runs to Cody in a panic, and tells him that she's found a way out of the lair. She knows about the coin and asks Cody to give it back to the Leprechaun so they can be rid of him. Cody reaches into his pocket and takes out the coin, hesitating. She asks for it again. It's their only hope. Cody looks deep into her eyes and hands over the coin. Suddenly, the illusion of Bridget disappears into thin air.
The Leprechaun has tricked Cody out of the coin. The Leprechaun exclaims that he's smarter than Cody. He's gotten his coin back.
Immediately, Cody's body is levitated and thrown against the wall of the lair. Cody falls down to the ground lifelessly. The Leprechaun goes off to collect his bride and leave to his mythical land.
But Bridget has other plans. Through a trick of her own that she's planned during her stay in the maze, Bridget distracts the Leprechaun long enough to run into the labyrinth. A suspenseful and horrifying chase ensues in and out of caverns.
Finally, a dead end. Bridget stands exhausted and terrified as the Leprechaun corners her. She gives up and tells the Leprechaun to come and take her. The Leprechaun approaches to whisk her away. Suddenly, Bridget steps to the side. Out of the shadows behind her comes Cody. With his wrought iron spear in hand he rams the point home, skewering the Leprechaun through the heart. Astonished, the Leprechaun holds out the gold coin, wondering why its protective powers failed him. Cody responds "It's real milk chocolate." Writhing, the villain dies, a special effects filled death.
Cody produces the real magic shilling from his pocket. He explains that the "smart little leprechaun" was only holding a chocolate coin, given to Cody back at O'Brien's pub.
The lair starts rumbling. The walls start crashing in. Cody grabs Bridget and leads her out of the maze.
