Final shooting script (revised) by Turi Meyer and Al Septien dated December 10, 1993:
A big thank you to scriptwriters Al Septien and Turi Meyer, who provided this script, and Dave Tripet (the movie's executive in charge of production) who arranged for me to get it!
Because this is a final shooting script, it's very similar to what we see on the screen, with no deleted scenes or major differences from the finished movie. But there are some interesting variations in the small details, so keep an eye out for those! Unfortunately there's a missing page too; the location in the script is noted in red.
The script went through several revisions before it reached this degree of completion. The first "final" script was dated October 27, 1993, followed by the blue revision on November 5, then pink (November 11), yellow (November 16), green (November 18), goldenrod (November 22), and buff, the FINAL final version, on December 10. Production was scheduled to run from November 19 to December 15, 1993, for a total of 24 shooting days, which means that some of these revisions were made while shooting was in progress. It's no wonder this script is so close to the finished movie!
We'll probably never know exactly what was in the earlier versions of the script. But we do have some clues, because I have some of the story concepts that preceded the script. Two very different story ideas were considered for the movie. After the Leprechaun bride concept was chosen, the story was developed further and a detailed outline was prepared to serve as the basis for the script. This outline has all the basic story elements found in the movie and some distinct differences too.
In addition to these story treatments, I have a copy of the Lep 2 shooting schedule (not displayed here). It has brief descriptions of every scene, and provides clues about material that was one version or another of the script but didn't make it into the finished movie. Such as:
The first two items on that list are in the December 10th script and the last two
are not.
