Leprechaun Production Materials Part 1

Hide and Seek Storyboards

My copy of the Lep 1 script is an early version that doesn't include Deputy Tripet's encounter with the Leprechaun. The notes on the movie's shooting schedule and a picture in the Behind the Scenes Gallery Part 4 indicate that during principal photography in November 1991, the cop came to a quick end; the Leprechaun killed him without a chase, then drove off in the police car. During post-production the filmmakers decided to extend the cop sequence to add more suspense to the movie, so the hide and seek game in the forest was filmed around February 1992.

The storyboards for this sequence are presented here. They illustrate the extensive pre-planning that can go into an action sequence, and the comic book style of the drawings is entertaining. Be sure to check out the last drawing, which gives an extra twist to the deputy's end.

These are production copies of the storyboards, which means that they are photocopies on standard-size paper. There are two drawings per page, and each drawing is numbered.

Many thanks to Executive in Charge of Production Dave Tripet for his help with this material. And yes, the deputy in the movie was named after Dave!
