I'm not completely sure what's going on, but something is clearly afoot at the official Warwick Davis website. The site was offline for a few days, and when it came back there were some new links that aren't fully functional yet. One is called 'Basket' so it looks like we may be able to go shopping on Warwick's page sometime soon!
Here are some new articles for your reading pleasure. BBC.co.uk has a '13 questions' interview from November 2007 that asks some personal questions. SciFi Online has an interview from July 2006, and Peterborough Today has an odd little story about Warwick's recent quest to buy an iPhone.
The Miscellaneous Acting pictures have some new shots from Celebrity Scissorhands and Prince Caspian. The Celebrity Scissorhands photos were shamelessly taken from the show's official website, and the Prince Caspian shot is a screen cap from the trailer.
Finally, the Lep 5 screen captures have been updated with new and much better pictures. Click here to see them. This concludes the update of the Leprechaun screen captures, since the Lep 6 pics were already the best that I could make.
November 11, 2007
Today's update features new and improved Lep 4 screen captures. The gallery begins here.
If you've been watching Warwick's official page during the last two weeks, you will have seen almost-daily updates about his adventures on Celebrity Scissorhands. There are also a number of stories about him on the show's official website, including this one where he was recruited to style the hair of a family member. This could turn into a permanent duty! There are before and after pictures here. Warwick recently posted another item on his official website about the new Shortfellas trailer, so check it out if you haven't already seen it.
October 22, 2007
The official Warwick Davis website recently announced that Warwick will be appearing on Celebrity Scissorhands, a BBC 3 series where celebrities spend three weeks training to be hair stylists and beauty therapists, all to raise money for the Children in Need charity. Filming begins on October 27th and the show hits the UK airwaves the next day, with daily episodes from October 28 to November 16. Keep an eye on Warwick's webpage, because he plans to keep an online diary about his experience
For more on the show, here's an official press release complete with a picture that includes Warwick, and the show's Wikipedia entry.
Celebrity Scissorhands also gets mentioned in this October 14th interview on Jedi News, along with many other subjects including Star Wars, Harry Potter, Prince Caspian, and Shortfellas.
That article also mentions the upcoming panto season. Warwick will once again be playing the role of Prof in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This year's production is at the New Wimbledon Theatre in London and runs from December 7 to January 20. See the theatre website for more details.
In personal appearance news, on October 14 Warwick appeared at CelebFest 2007 in Sheffield, England. There's also an article about an October 15th appearance at a community college.
October 10, 2007
The official Warwick Davis website was updated today with a story about the upcoming indie film Shortfellas. I'm not gonna repeat what Warwick said, so go on over to his page for the details!
The official Shortfellas website is now up and running, so we now have an official plot synopsis and some cast information to look at. Go to the movie's website to check out that stuff.
It sounds like it'll be a fun movie. I thought it was interesting that the official website lists several other movies as the inspiration for this story: The Italian Job, Ocean's Eleven, and... erm... The Full Monty?!? What, are they all going to get naked?!? Probably not; I'm guessing that it's actually because the story is about a bunch of guys with a fundraising scheme that they're not really qualified to pull off.
There's another description on the production company's website.
There's an article about the movie on Filmstew.com and another on BBC.co.uk.

The new and improved Lep 3 screen captures have arrived. They're bigger and better quality than the old ones, and the gallery starts here. Enjoy!
September 15, 2007
The Leprechaun 2 screen captures have been upgraded! The screen cap gallery starts here. It features the same moments as before, but the pictures are much bigger and the quality is much better. I've also upgraded the screen captures for a number of older projects in the Warwick Davis Pictures section, so I invite everyone to go browse around.
The Lep 4 section has been updated to include this quote from director Brian Trenchard-Smith:
CELEBRATORY SATIRE: Why in Space? - They ask. Simple: because of the very absurdity of the notion, a deliberate rather than a desperate choice. Many low budget sci-fi horror movies are unintentionally absurd. They repeat formulaic situations, contrive distributor mandated nudity, etc. with a straight face. And sometimes they think it will be really cool and cutting edge to set the same old stuff in space. So what do you do when you are given one of these to make? LEP IN SPACE takes standard sci-fi cliches and favorite moments from many better ( and bigger budgeted films ) then inhales them through a hash pipe. It is intended for sci-fi/horror geeks who love the genre, but can occasionally giggle at the object of their passion. Enjoyment of the movie for guys requires a 90 minute return to puberty, armed with a love of sci-fi flicks stretching back to the 50's. The film is also intended to showcase the comedic talents of the great Warwick Davis. He rose to the occasion in every wacky situation.

Director Darren Lynn Bousman has a video interview on MovieWeb that includes some discussion of his desire to direct Leprechaun 7, starting at about the 2½ minute point in the interview. (Thanks to Benoit Rouleau for the tip.) The interview includes the information that the Leprechaun finds a time machine and uses it to travel back to the Old West. The time machine isn't really necessary of course since the Leprechaun was alive during that time period anyway, but it adds a little complexity to the story. There's also a bit of Lep-related joking right at the end of the interview.
There's a brief video interview with Warwick Davis on BrightCove at the European premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The discussion is all about Daniel Radcliffe.
Here's a bit of humor that's been on the internet for a couple of years now but has just started showing up in Google search results. It's a fictitious play called Waiting for Warwick on the Dictionary of Unfortunate Ideas website.
In the bad news department, NotStarring.com says that Val Kilmer had to drop out of Agent One-Half due to sustained production delays. His name disappeared from the movie's IMDB listing earlier this year.
Want to own a piece of original artwork by Warwick Davis? Paint 4 Poverty is having a celebrity art auction to raise funds, including this painting by Warwick. Online bidding is accepted through October 11, with a final auction at a real-world event (taking the online bids into account) in the city of Bath.
August 4, 2007 - Leprechaun 7 ??
I'm frequently asked whether there are any current plans for Leprechaun 7. I always have to answer that there aren't, but lately there have been some indications that the situation might change.
On March 8, 2007 director Darren Lynn Bousman posted this comment here on his MySpace blog: "I have seriously begged Lionsgate to let me direct the next Leprechaun movie... LEPRECHAUN IN THE OLD WEST!!! Seriously - think about - - The Lep in the colorado gold rush! DO YOU HEAR ME PETE BLOCK! Let me do this!!!"
I didn't take this too seriously until several months later, when this July 27th story appeared on the Splatter Films website (thanks to M. Gencarelli for the link):
When we talked to Darren Lynn Bousman tonight, director of the last two Saw sequels, he told us that he was adamant about making the next in the Leprechaun series.
Bousman's next project is the musical Repo! The Genetic Opera!. Shortly after he finishes that movie, he would like to jump directly into a Leprechaun film.
"I'm making this pitch to Lions Gate right now," He told us. "My Leprechaun film is going to take place in the Old West. We have hookers, six-shooters, and a bunch of gold miners. Gold is what they are mining. What could be more perfect for a Leprechaun film?"
We thought he was joking at first, but he was dead serious. This is the next step he wants to take after he finishes his musical, which he wishes he could have gotten Queen Latifah involved in, "I love Queen Latifah. I wish she would have known that we were making this Repo musical. I am defiantly giving her a call after the first one is a hit."
And that was all he had to say about that.
It's obvious that he IS serious about wanting to direct Lep 7 and is making an ongoing effort to talk Lions Gate into it. I have no idea whether he has any chance of success, but he's already directing films for Lions Gate (check out his blog on the Lions Gate webpage) and that ought to help his efforts.
I certainly hope he succeeds, and I thoroughly approve of his story idea. I've been wanting to see the Leprechaun in a historical setting, and Lep in the Old West was my #2 choice. (Lep versus pirates was #1) Although I enjoy Lep 6, I did think it was a mistake for them to go back to the hood a second time, and that the movie would have sold better if they'd gone in a fresh direction instead. A Gold Rush Leprechaun movie is exactly what we need to revitalize the series.
Lions Gate does not currently have a functioning email address for public use. If you'd like to encourage them to make another Lep movie, you can write to them the old-fashioned way at
Lionsgate
2700 Colorado Ave.
Santa Monica, CA 90404
Or send a fax to (310) 255-3870
The Leprechaun isn't the only movie subject that I have to report. Warwick has a role in yet another indie horror film called Invasion of the Not Quite Dead. According to the movie's official site, they're currently seeking crew members and financial contributions, so here's your chance if you'd like to be part of a movie. Thanks to Paul Smith for the tip.

An update of yesterday's update. I've received confirmation that Warwick does in fact play the goblin in the elevator in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!
July 29, 2007
Now that the movie version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been released, I've created a Filmography section for it here. Warwick plays Professor Flitwick in the movie of course, and I suspect that he's also the goblin who rides in the elevator at the Ministry of Magic with Harry and Mr. Weasley. I haven't been able to find any source identifying the goblin actor, and I'm looking forward to the DVD release so I can take a more leisurely look at this character.
Speaking of Harry Potter, there's a new book out called A Fandom of Magical Proportions: An Unauthorized History of the Harry Potter Phenomenon. Why am I mentioning this? Because the book includes an interview with Warwick. I haven't actually seen this book myself, but it's table of contents is displayed here and there aren't any other interview credits shown.

Great news for Lep fans in the British Isles! Leprechaun Back 2 tha Hood (aka Leprechaun 6) is finally available in the UK. According to Amazon.co.uk it was released there on May 14 in Region 2 format. Thanks to Guy for the tip!
There's also good news for French fans of Warwick Davis. There's a new French-language fansite called Warwick Davis Online. The site's first news report is mostly based on my June 3 update, but there's also a piece of information from another source so we can expect more independent reporting in the future. The unique information is about a Panini sticker album picture of Flitwick in Harry Potter 5 that will be available on June 7. It's a nice picture, so go check it out!
The Panini website is awkward to use, but it looks to me like this Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix sticker album is slated for release in Italy, Finland and Malta. There's also an International edition, but no information on what they mean by international. There are apparently no plans for a US release.

Click here to see a YouTube video about Jennifer Aniston that includes a brief interview with Mark Jones discussing Leprechaun. The Lep material starts around the 3:30 minute mark and includes pictures that look like they were taken from my Behind the Scenes gallery without permission since I've never seen these particular photos anywhere else. Thanks to cmagu at IMDb for telling me about this video!
Here's an interview on YourMovies that's primarily about Star Wars. Much of it is information we've heard before, but it does reveal the interesting fact that Warwick's appearance in the Phantom Menace pod race scene was called 'the Willow shot' by ILM because the character Weazel looked somewhat similar to Willow. The interview also provides some details about playing Yoda, which hasn't been discussed much in print. There's no date on the interview but it coincides with the Australian Star Wars DVD release, which occured in 2004.
EmpireOnline also has an undated interview that's primarily about Star Wars, but is more recent - probably May 2007. Warwick also gives a bit more information than usual on how he became an actor.
Do you think you might meet Warwick someday at one of his personal appearances? Top Up Your Freeview has a little article that describes one way to stand out from the crowd.
Speaking of personal appearances, I've added a few more to the list. On May 7th Warwick was once again a master of ceremonies at the Stilton Cheese Rolling Festival. Go here for a large collection of pictures of the event, including many of Warwick and some of Robbie Coltrane who was also a guest.
There are upcoming appearances too. Warwick will be appearing at Disney World Star Wars Weekend in Orlando on June 22-24. Filming commitments prevented him from hosting the entire four weekends as he did last year. Warwick will also be the master of ceremonies at Star Wars Celebration Europe in London on July 13-15.

On May 12, Lep 3 & 4 director Brian Trenchard-Smith did a podcast interview with Greg Conley's online radio show. Approximately 16 minutes of this 54-minute interview dealt with the Leprechaun series, especially Lep 4. An MP3 of this interview is available here on the Your Video Store website. The Leprechaun section starts right around minute 22 of the interview.
While there's a lot of great Lep 4 information, the most interesting part of the interview deals with Leprechaun 5. It seems that there was some brief talk of having Brian direct that movie, but he felt that it was inappropriate for a white director to make a movie poking fun at black culture and that it was better to hire a black director for the job. I don't know whether Rob Spera (who directed Lep in the Hood) is black.
However, Brian had his own idea of what he'd like to do for the fifth Leprechaun movie and it was a long way from the hood. His plan was to put the Leprechaun in the White House! The movie would have continued on from Lep 4 (apparently ignoring that #4 takes place in the future) with the immense spaceship from Independence Day looming over the White House. But instead of blowing the White House to bits, the ship would deliver the Leprechaun into the building. The Leprechaun would find out about all the gold stored in Fort Knox and would naturally be interested.
The political situation would have been modeled on the Clinton years since Clinton was in office at the time. There would be a dysfunctional first family including a president with a zipper problem and the president's daughter, and greedy Republicans would be scheming to take power. Somehow the Leprechaun would have inadvertently ended up saving America.
Brian pitched this idea to the studio execs, who rejected it on the grounds that it was too far out and political satire wouldn't work for the Leprechaun fanbase. Eighteen months later the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, which would have been a golden opportunity to expand the Leprechaun's audience if this film had been available.
I don't know how the majority of Lep fans feel about this concept, but I think it's a brilliant idea. It's too late now to have the Leprechaun take on Bill Clinton but he could easily take on George Bush if Lions Gate wants to give it a go. About two thirds of the American public disapproves of Bush's performance at this point and international disapproval is probably even stronger than that, so people would be cheering for the Lep!

It's been a slow news period lately so today's update consists of a few odds and ends.
Earlier this year Warwick spent some time in New Zealand filming Prince Caspian. You can find out how he spent some of his free time on the Reel Collectibles website.
On March 19th, the Something Awful website posted their Big Ten List of Little People. The article consists of political incorrectness mixed with respect, but they rated Warwick #1 and that's good enough for me to mention them.
Dave Tripet, the executive in charge of production for the first three Leprechaun movies, has started a script-collecting site called ScriptCollecting.com.
I've added two new pictures to Ewok Pictures Part 3.

There's good news and bad news about the Leprechaun figure that SOTA Toys promised us quite some time ago. If you're not familiar with this figure, click here for a September 2005 story about it on ActionFigure.com, with pictures of the figure sandwiched in between a bunch of advertising.
The good news is that SOTA is apparently planning to make two figures, not just one. An article on Figures.com talks briefly about the Now Playing Series 4 figure (the one that was announced back in 2005) and says "Leprechaun will also see the resin treatment as a mini bust in 2007."
An article on Dread Central also seems to indicate that there will be two Lep figures - one with a diorama base and the bust. This article apparently was written on 2/20/07, the last day of Toyfair. Looking at some online pictures of the SOTA Toy exhibit at this event, it doesn't look like they were displaying any Lep figures.
However, this 3/1/07 interview with the new SOTA CEO on Fwooshnet does show a picture of the bust, which is really more of a half-body figure. This figure can be pre-ordered at various sites around the internet, with a variety of 2007 release dates being reported. The Now Playing figure can also be pre-ordered, with no picture available and no consensus on the release date. A knowledgeable-sounding post on Toypit says that the prototype displayed back in 2005 is not the final version, but I can't find any more information.
And now for the bad news. I wouldn't recommend pre-ordering either of these figures at this time. SOTA has been experiencing some hard times and is currently reorganizing, and the viability of some of their product lines is in doubt. Although the new SOTA CEO said the Now Playing line will go forward in the Fwooshnet article, some reasonably well-informed sources think this is doubtful. So time alone will tell whether we will actually get either or both of these figures.
Now on to a different subject. Horror fans who are in or near Bournemouth UK have the opportunity to attend a free screening of Small Town Folk on March 27th at Centre Stage. See the official website for more information.
I don't usually post Willow-related news on this webpage, saving most of it for my Willow webpage instead. But this item is offbeat enough to report here too. There's a quirky little song called Willow Don't Cry, written by Leslie Hall of Leslie & the Lys for her second album Door Man's Daughter. The song has its own website here where you can listen to the music and watch a delightfully tacky 5-minute video (the first two minutes are not directly related to Willow and the last three minutes are). The playback is rough with numerous small glitches, but it's fun. The website includes behind the scenes information and other small extras. You can read about other Willow tributes here on my Willow page.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Today's update is all about the Leprechaun. For openers, I have some exclusive comments loaded with behind-the-scenes information on Leprechaun 3 from the movie's director, Brian Trenchard-Smith. This same text has been added to the Lep 3 section so it will be easy to find in the future. Here's what Brian had to say:
"Blue Rider Pictures, for whom I had made NIGHT OF THE DEMONS 2, were asked by Trimark to produce the third and, at that stage, the intended last in the series. Send the little guy to Vegas, the capital of greed and broken dreams, was the concept, but Trimark only wanted to spend $1.2M, 300K less than LEP 2. So together with Blue Rider principals Jeff Geoffray and Walter Josten, I had to do some clever production planning First step was to re-write the script to fit LA's Ambassador Hotel as a seedy Vegas casino where we would shoot for 14 days. Then I would take a guerrilla crew of 9 into the streets of Vegas, for a one night dusk till dawn shoot, setting the Leprechaun against real Vegas backgrounds for brief scenes that would pepper the movie. I also beefed up the humor with limericks, and put much of LEP's dialogue into rhyme. "For playing me this trick," says Warwick, swinging an axe, "I'll chop off your.." Whack! Blotting out the last word, the axe lands between John Gatins legs, an inch from inhibiting his social life. That sort of thing. (Crotch gags abound in my movies - see THE MAN FROM HONG KONG as an early example, and LEP IN SPACE's crotch-burster alien rebirth as the ultimate example. Suspended adolescence, I guess.) But my gut told me that the core audience for LEP movies would appreciate a quantum leap in humor from the previous 2 installments.
Shooting with the speedy DOP David Lewis went well in the Ambassador, despite the fact that the empty decaying hotel was simultaneously rented to three movie companies. I would bump into Martin Sheen occasionally between scenes of his period gangster movie. Warwick was wonderful to work with and appreciated the opportunity to embellish his character with spoof TV commercials in which he portrayed a psychic and a fire and brimstone televangelist. His patience and dedication every day during 3 hours plus of make-up application ( and 40 minutes removing it) was heroic. Gabe Bartalos, who created his make-up, also devised great new prosthetic make-up gags, like the hilarious Caroline Williams' collagen lips in overdrive, and the lethal fembot that crawls out of a phone sex ad on the TV screen to straddle, then electrocute sleazy casino owner Mickey Callan.
There was one scene Warwick was not comfortable with: his encounter with a streetwalker, who offers him an array of sexual adventures concluding with "...Golden Shower?" At the mention of his beloved mineral, LEP would salivate. "Golden shower? Oh, I'd like one of those!" The hooker, who was to be played by our wonderful casting lady Tedra Gabriel, replies "That's 150, and you buy the six pack." I learned early on to defer to an actor's taste when he is truly uncomfortable with material, so we dropped it. We had enough scatological material in the picture to satisfy the pubescent in all of us. And Warwick was right. This exchange would sour the particular tone we were setting for our target audience. Terms like taste and tone may seem out of place in a LEP movie, but in fact consistency of tone applies to all genres.
Casting director Tedra Gabriel brought me two wonderful comedic actors - Tom Dugan and Roger Hewlett to play the mob guys who want their money from sleazy casino owner Mickey Callan. We improvised ninety percent of their part. For instance, I had 15 more minutes of the shooting day left, and one shot to do: the mob guys waiting impatiently for Mickey Callan to show up. No written dialogue. I said: make some small talk for about 20 seconds. The off the wall "jocks vs. briefs" dialogue is what followed.
In a subsequent scene, there was one gag I decided to drop on the grounds of taste. (Rare for me.) As Lep disposes of the mob guys, one of them improvs a Wizard of Oz reference as his dying words: "What was Judy Garland really like?" Warwick, a dab hand at improv himself, shot back with customary malevolence: "She was a bitch!" then delivered the coup de grace with his shillelagh as the button on the line. We all fell about laughing, but in the cutting room I felt it might hurt Liza Minelli's feelings. ( I know, she probably doesn't see Leprechaun movies). If anyone was bitchy to the munchkins on Oz, it was the studio brass not her mother. She didn't deserve the slight. A funny line, but it had to go. I encouraged all the cast to improv embellishments to their characters. They created the funniest lines. Leigh Allyn Baker's improv ability turned her walk-on waitress part into a gem. Metallica, indeed. Even Trimark exec in charge Dave Tripet volunteered to swell my low budget crowd of extras, and gave me a yawn I could use as a cutaway during John Demita's performance as the self-deluded failed magician. There are so many people who helped make my work look good. I could write a book, so this is but a tiny insight into moments behind the scenes most people are not aware of.
The LEP movies are an unique genre hybrid that could only have flowered in the early 90's. Opinions are sharply divided on my decisions for tone and wackiness in LEP 4 IN SPACE but I stand by them.( Of course you would have to understand what I was really doing...) I'd love to do another LEP movie, provided I controlled the script. I hear rumors of LEP versus CHUCKY. That could be fun, but they'll probably give it to a kid. As Bob Weinstein is reported to have said when reviewing my resume for a project: "How many movies has this guy done? No, we gotta have somebody younger..." It's 36 movies currently, and the show ain't over till the fat lady sings. (Thought I'd end on a politically incorrect note...)
Many thanks to Brian for taking the time to provide this information! The part I like best is Warwick's previously-unpublicized response to the Judy Garland line. Several months ago Brian provided similar (but less lengthy) comments on Lep 4, which can be seen in the Lep 4 section.
For those of you who like pictures better than words, I've redone the Lep 1 screen captures. The original pics were made in the pre-DVD era, and the technology available to me at that time would only let me capture small-sized pictures. But now my options aren't so limited. The new screen captures show the same moments as the old ones, but they're MUCH bigger. Within the next few months I intend to make bigger screen caps for Lep 2, 3 and 4 as well.
This St. Patrick's Day brings some good news for UK Lep fans. A boxed set of the first four Lep movies will go on sale in two days on Amazon.co.uk with a low low price of £9.74. It was originally scheduled to go on sale today, which would have been much more appropriate!

Today is the 7th anniversary of this website. As a demonstration of how far the page has come, I've posted two articles that appeared in GoreZone #11 in August 2006. The articles were written by me at the request of the magazine editors, who appreciated the quality of the website and thought I could make a decent contribution to their magazine. This kind of recognition is quite a change from the earliest days of the page, when I was lucky to get five visitors a day!
Dave Tripet (the executive in charge of production on the first three Lep movies) provided some additional information on the casting of Leprechaun when I showed him one of the GoreZone articles. It was too late to include the information in the print version, but I've included it with the link in the previous paragraph, in an introduction that I added for the webpage.
But the biggest news of this update is that Warwick has a new role in a major motion picture. On February 7, Walt Disney Pictures announced that Warwick would be playing the part of Nikabrik the Black Dwarf in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, which is scheduled for release on May 16, 2008. Click here for more information and links.
February 3, 2007
Time rolls on for all of us, and today is Warwick's 37th birthday. To honor the occasion, I've posted some screen captures from Extras in Other Pictures Part 6. They're at the bottom of the page, so scroll down after you click that link.
If you have HBO and missed the episode when it first aired on January 28, you can watch it any time if your cable provider offers HBO on Demand. The entire series to date is available to watch at your convenience, along with HBO hit series like Rome and The Sopranos. Look for Episode 9 - that's the one with Warwick in it.
In another sign of the sitcom's US popularity, rock legend Alice Cooper recently called it the funniest series ever on his syndicated radio show. Alice was talking about Episode 8 at the time, which features David Bowie.
The other news item in this update is about a custom Leprechaun figure which has to be the ultimate fan tribute to the Lep. This highly realistic figure is basically life size! Go to the Leprechaun Art section for pictures and information on what to do if you'd like one of your own.
January 13, 2007
There's some good news for the first update of the new year. The U.S. showing of the second season of Extras will begin on HBO on Sunday January 14th - that's tomorrow! Warwick is in the third episode of the new season (Episode 9, counting from the beginning of the series) which premieres on January 28th. There will be many repeats of course, so you can check the HBO online schedule and search for Extras to find a time that will suit you.
At the moment, the HBO website has some video clips for the new season here, including one featuring Warwick called the Leprechaun tease (no, not THAT Leprechaun). It should really be called the Wood Elf tease, since that's what they call Warwick's movie character in the show. (Was that confusing? That's what happens when you talk about a show within a show.) The Godzilla clips show one of Warwick's scenes from the episode.
In a bit of Star Wars meets Leprechaun news, stunt Lep Arturo Gil was the Ewok driving the Endor float in the Tournament of Roses parade on New Year's Day. He was invited to take the job by Warwick.
