News 2003

December 13, 2003

Less than three weeks to the release of Leprechaun Back 2 tha Hood! While we're waiting for the big day, we can entertain ourselves with the Lep 6 press kit. There's not a lot to it, but it came with a great picture and a very interesting piece of information. Apparently the DVD has TWO audio commentaries - one with Warwick Davis and director Steve Ayromlooi, and one with Steve Ayromlooi and the director of photography.

For Star Wars fans, there's a new picture in Ewok Pictures Part 3. It's a 1983 postcard-sized autographed card from Return of the Jedi with a picture of Wicket and another of young Warwick out of costume. The card was recently sold on eBay.

The Convention Appearances section has been updated to include a few new items.

November 17, 2003

There's more good news for Leprechaun fans! Lions Gate Films is in the process of creating a new official site for Leprechaun Back 2 Tha Hood. There's not too much there at the moment, but they promise that more is coming soon. In the meantime, their original movie profile is still available here. [Obsolete link removed] The new site is part of the new Lions Gate Horror site promoting all their horror titles. It's still under construction, but horror fans will want to keep an eye on it.

Leprechaun in the Hood (aka Lep 5) was released in the UK on September 15th. This is fantastic news; the UK fans have been Lep-starved for a long time. The first two movies have been out of print for a while in the UK, and the third and fourth films were never released there at all. If a lot of support is shown for this release (in the form of movie sales and rentals) it could lead to more UK Lep releases!

Attention Leprechaun fans! The Lep 6 trailer is now available on IMDb. This is the same trailer that's on the rough-cut DVD. Thanks to Savlep for the information!

November 1, 2003

Today I have some new Lep 1 press kit photos, which are available in the Lep 1 Pictures section. For more information on the Lep 1 press kit, click here.

The Leprechaun Art section has a picture and information on a Leprechaun bust that was recently auctioned on eBay.

In the Lep 6 section, I've removed the link to the IMDb message board seeking support for a Halloween theatrical release; the time is up for that effort.

I've got some interesting new pictures in the Other/Personal Pictures gallery. Up until now I'd never seen any posters related to Warwick's stage work. But recently, posters from two different UK Christmas-season pantomimes appeared on eBay within a few days of each other - from two different sellers! Neither picture is as clear as I would like, but they're still quite interesting. One is from a 1997 production of Snow White; I've grouped it with a couple of related pictures from news stories about the play. The other poster is from a 1999 production of Aladdin. I had a related picture available for that one too; it's a great photo, but it's never been seen on this page before because there's a problem with it. I found it on someone's personal website several years ago. The original disappeared a long time ago and I don't know how to locate the owners to ask permission to use it. So today I made a reasonable compromise; I displayed the picture next to the Aladdin poster, but to protect the privacy of the owners I've cropped everyone but Warwick out of the picture. If the owners happen to see this: I hope you don't mind!

This has been a wonderful day for me - I received my Lep 6 screener DVD. THANK YOU Lions Gate!! This screener is NOT the final version of the movie; it's a rough cut showing how the movie looked two months ago, and they've done a lot of work since then. Even though some additional work was clearly necessary, the movie is already a lot of fun in this unfinished form. It looks like it'll be fantastic by the time they're done with it!

Of course the first thing I did after I got the screener was WATCH THE MOVIE. The second thing I did was update the page to include large versions of the cover art (front and back), three screen captures, and a spoiler-free early review. So follow that link above to see all of this, and be sure to click on all the pictures for a larger image.

October 8, 2003

Here's an interesting Lep 6 item. I've been told that the November issue of Creative Screenwriting magazine will have an interview with writer/director Steve Ayromlooi about the trials and tribulations of getting into the business and making Lep 6.

It was time for a little housekeeping, so I got out my link checker and did a sweep of the page, then repaired or deleted the broken links. Among the websites that have unfortunately disappeared are the Galaxion 99 website and the little Warwick Davis: The Great One fansite. Each of these pages had a unique picture that was the most interesting aspect of the page. I'd hate to see these pictures disappear forever, so I've added them to the Other/Personal pictures gallery in order to preserve them.

September 20, 2003

Big news on the Lep 6 front! The poster art and an official plot summary are now available on the Lions Gate Films website. [Obsolete link removed] You can also view these items in my Lep 6 section. Thanks to Brian H. for pointing me in this direction.

If you haven't done so yet, PLEASE go and sign the IMDb message board supporting a Lep 6 limited theatrical release. It will be used in an attempt to persuade the Lions Gate execs to put the Lep where he belongs - on the big screen!

If you've read that message board, you'll see a lot of fan interest in a Lep vs. Chucky movie. We'll probably never see that movie, since UpcomingHorrorMovies.com and other sources recently indicated that Child's Play 5 is now being planned. Chucky was probably always too expensive for the Leprechaun's budget, and this will raise his price even higher! But if you go here [Obsolete link removed] you can view a fake Chuck & Lep poster that someone made to use on a message board. It favors Chucky, but it's fun. Thanks to Josh M. for telling me about that link.

September 14, 2003

Calling all Lep fans! The Leprechaun needs your help. I've just learned that there is an IMDb message board seeking support for a limited Lep 6 theatrical release around Halloween. The thread says it was started by the movie's director, and I have reason to believe that this is 100% legitimate. So go over there, register with IMDb if you need to (it's quick and easy) and voice your enthusiasm for the Leprechaun. Do it even if you live in a town too small to benefit from a limited release. If this is successful, it could lead to a wider release when it's time for Lep 7. DO IT NOW. Time is running out. Thanks to Savlep for telling me about this message board.

Next in the news is a general announcement about The Official Warwick Davis Web Site. In the past, I've always announced every update that Warwick made. But lately he's shifted into high gear, sometimes doing two or three updates a week. It's getting hard for me to keep up! So don't wait for me to tell you every time he's done an update; just check his page yourself on a regular basis. I'll still announce his most important updates. This week he added another new section to the Scrapbook and posted some news about Personal Appearances.

Second update of the day: The Acting News section of the Official Warwick Davis Web Site was updated this afternoon to encourage Lep fans to post messages on the IMDb message board that I talked about in the first paragraph. If you had any doubts about joining the campaign, this ought to erase them!

September 7, 2003

More exciting news for Lep fans! The Official Warwick Davis Web Site just posted some more Lep 6 photos in the Scrapbook section, and this time the photos are of Warwick in costume. To view Warwick's whole Lep 6 gallery, go to Page 1 and click the link at the bottom of the page when you're ready to see more.

Warwick's Personal Appearances section indicates that his September 21 appearance in Kansas City, Missouri has been cancelled. For all the fans who wanted to see him there, better luck next time!

September 5, 2003

Attention, Leprechaun fans! The Official Warwick Davis Web Site just posted some very interesting information about Leprechaun 6. But you can't read the details on my page; you need to go look at Warwick's Acting News section.

Take a look at his Scrapbook section while you're at it, because he's also added a new Lep 6 subsection with exclusive behind-the-scenes photos. At the moment this doesn't include any pictures of Warwick in costume, but maybe we'll get to see some later - a note at the bottom of the page promises that there'll be more soon.

In addition to the Lep 6 report, Warwick's Acting News section also has a recent story about a new UK commercial where he plays a gremlin character. I wish I was in the viewing area for this commercial, because the pictures look fantastic.

August 31, 2003

I don't have any Leprechaun news today, but the fans of Warwick's other major movies are in luck!

Willow fans who live near Dallas will be excited to learn about Warwick's upcoming appearance at the Dallas Comic Con on October 25-26; this event is more Willow-oriented than any convention appearance that I've heard about. I've listed it in the Convention Appearances section, but to really learn more about it you need to head over to The Crossroads, my Willow webpage.

Star Wars fans, are you annoyed that a Wald action figure has never been produced? Well, now you can do something about it. The Wald the Rodian website has a petition asking Hasbro to make this action figure. And for those who can't wait, there are detailed instructions on creating your own custom figure.

In other Star Wars news, the Convention Appearances section now includes a March 2004 appearance at the Exe-Wing Fundraisers Star Wars Day 8 in Exeter, England.

Are there any Harry Potter fans out there who'd like to be Flitwick for Halloween? Well, your costuming job has gotten easier. Head on over to Warwick Davis Merchandise and take a look at the Flitwick hat that's now available. It looks like it'll go well with the Flitwick mask. By the way, you may have noticed that I've added Flitwick to the picture lineup on my Warwick Davis Main Menu. About time, eh?

In the Warwick Davis Links, I've added the Waste of Technology Man of the Week site (from March 17-24, 2002). I suspect that the pictures and Lep quotes came from my page, but bio is original and I'm amused by the little-known fact that Willow is a Jon Lucas movie. I wonder what George Lucas has to say about that...

August 12, 2003

BIG NEWS!! We finally have the release date for Leprechaun 6. The street date for the straight to DVD/video release is December 30, 2003, and the final title is LEPRECHAUN BACK 2 THA HOOD. I can't find anything about the release on the Lions Gate website, but this information came directly from my official contact at Lions Gate.

I went on a special search for the release date after I learned that the Fangoria website was reporting a November 11 release and a title of 'Leprechaun in the Hood 2', and that Bloody-Disgusting was quoting the Fango story with a November 12 date. I can't tell where Fango got their information, and it's possible that this was the anticipated date and title at one time. But as of today, Lions Gate has confirmed a release date of December 30!

This great news came just a short time after I acquired some great Lep photos, so if you haven't seen those yet you need to read my August 9 report:

August 9, 2003

Horror fans, this update is for you! Today's first treat is four gorgeous Leprechaun photos, sent to me by Leprechaun makeup artist Gabe Bartalos. One of the photos is a Lep 1 publicity shot, and as far as I know the other three have never been available to the public before. So please don't borrow them for your webpage - let's keep them exclusive to this one!

I don't usually show pictures in the news section, but the Leprechaun Picture Gallery is organized by movie, and since these pictures come from different movies they'll end up in different sections of the gallery. So I'm going to display them here to make it easy to see them all. Click on the thumbnails to see a larger image.

Here's something exciting for all the people who are anxiously awaiting the release of Leprechaun 6. I won't tell you what's happening in this fantastic shot - you'll have to try to figure it out for yourself, and you'll find out if you were right when the movie comes out. Now that I've got this picture, I've started a Lep 6 Pictures section in the Picture Gallery, and moved the miscellaneous Lep pics from the Lep 5 section to the Lep 6 section. I've also added the full-size picture to the Leprechaun 6 movie section because it's so very, very cool.

This shot of the Leprechaun in all his glory from the first movie is Gabe's favorite. A small version of the pic appeared in the top left corner of the cover of Fangoria #111 when they printed their Lep 1 article, but the picture never really got the circulation it deserved. The picture at the top of my main page got a wider distribution, even though it was the test makeup and not the finished look. The existing Fango version of this picture in the Lep 1 Pictures section has been replaced with this bigger and better version.

Is this a fantastic shot or what? But without a costume for reference, I can't figure out which movie it's from. Therefore, I've added it to the Lep 6/Miscellaneous Pictures in the 'Miscellaneous' subsection.

Here's an excellent makeup shot showing Warwick and Gabe at work. But once again, I can't figure out which movie it's from. The makeup room on the Lep 6 set looked sort of like this, but I don't remember seeing any curtains there so I suspect that the picture is from one of the previous movies. This picture is in Miscellaneous Pictures right next to the preceding pic.

Not all the horror news is about the Leprechaun. Gabe also passed along some great news about Skinned Deep, which was written and directed by Gabe and features Warwick as a major character. The movie had a test screening in July at New York's Guggenheim Museum (impressive venue!) that went over fantastically. The movie was in the final steps of mixing at the time, and the official completed version should be available in about a month if all goes well, with a screening in Los Angeles for the cast, crew, and press soon afterwards.

I had the privilege of seeing a small portion of this movie when I visited the Lep 6 set. It was vastly entertaining, and ever since I've been waiting impatiently for the movie's release. It looks like that day is finally approaching, and I hope we'll all be hearing more about this movie very soon.

Many, many thanks to Gabe Bartalos for the wonderful pictures and the news!

If you haven't seen the recent Agent One Half update, read the next news story:

August 7, 2003

The temporary Agent One Half official website has now been superseded by the permanent version! You can visit it here. Several sections are still under construction, but the updated information includes a longer description of the plot than we had before, character names, cast bios, and the latest version of the teaser poster. For my highly unofficial unofficial information on this movie, click here.

I've also updated the Convention Appearances section to include an upcoming appearance at an event hosted by Slanted Fedora Entertainment. The appearance will be on September 21 in Kansas City, Missouri, and I found out about it on The Official Warwick Davis Web Site.

July 12, 2003

I recently acquired the Caravan of Courage Japanese movie program. As a result, there are fifteen new pictures on view in Ewok Pictures Part 3. I haven't posted any text from this publication because I can't read Japanese!

The Official Warwick Davis Web Site was updated yesterday to include Warwick's upcoming appearance with Carrie Fisher (and probably a few other Star Wars guests as well), presented by the London Expo on August 3. Check Warwick's Personal Appearances section for details.

Are you going to be in or near Hollywood on July 26? If the answer is yes, then you can attend the world premiere of Carnage & Deception. Write to derek@derekmaki.com for your free ticket. You can check out the movie's website here. Warwick isn't in this horror film, but it was written, directed, and acted in by Derek Maki, who is Warwick's representative (with Coolwaters Productions) for U.S. appearances. Derek also makes an appearance in Leprechaun 6, so this is an opportunity for Lep fans to check him out in advance. If you like the look of the film but can't attend, the website provides information on ordering the DVD.

July 3, 2003

Check the Acting News section of The Official Warwick Davis Web Site for a teaser poster and a bit of official information on Agent 1/2, the upcoming movie starring, co-written and co-produced by Warwick himself. This movie is gonna be great; the poster alone is quite entertaining. For unofficial information on this movie, click here.

Attention Chicagoans: Warwick is scheduled to appear at the Chicago Comic Con on August 8-10. Check the Coolwaters Productions website for details.

There are two new pictures in Harry Potter Pictures Part 2 - one each of Flitwick and the Goblin Bank Teller.

For an unusual DVD offer, click here [Obsolete link removed] to go to the Lions Gate website. You can pre-order a DVD containing four movies (including Lep 1) that works only on PCs.

June 15, 2003

The news has been slow lately so I don't have much to report. But I did discover that some modifications were needed in the Convention Appearances section, so those have been made. The additions are a couple of upcoming appearances in London and an appearance at Galactic Gathering that happened last February. A July appearance in Dallas has been taken off the list; it looks like that one's not going to happen.

May 10, 2003

There's fresh material in the Leprechaun articles section! The sections for the Lep 1 press kit and Lep 2 press kit have been expanded to include additional material from the video release press kits. The new stuff is below the pre-existing material, so scroll down a bit.

Issue 68 of Star Wars Insider just came out. There's nothing about Warwick in it, so that's not the good news. This is the good news: now that issue 67 is no longer on the store shelves, I've posted that issue's great Warwick interview and all its fabulous Return of the Jedi behind the scenes pics in the Warwick Davis Articles section. That's not all on the Star Wars front; Ewok Pictures Part 2 has a new behind the scenes picture from one of the Ewok TV movies.

I've also added some pictures from The New Adventures of Pinocchio to Warwick Davis Other Pictures Part 1.

Do you enjoy a good pseudo-intellectual discussion of the Leprechaun? If so, then you MUST check out this essay on the Brothers Redcloud site.

I've listed several upcoming events and removed some cancelled events in the Convention Appearances section. This information comes to you from the Coolwaters Productions event calendar.

May 3, 2003

Here's something that will interest all the people who keep asking me when Leprechaun 6 will be released. According to Lions Gate's public feedback service, the movie will be available in November. That's later than what anxious Lep fans were hoping for, but it's still great news that a tentative release time has been set. The timing may have been chosen to coincide with the holiday shopping season, so that everyone who'd like to see Lep 6 under their Christmas tree can get their wish.

In the meantime, the fans can entertain themselves with some fresh Lep 2 material. I've just created the Leprechaun 2 Script section, but there's no script in it - I haven't been able to find one of those yet. Instead, the section contains some early story concepts that preceded the script. We know how the story turned out - now read about the alternatives!

There's some non-Lep news as well. I've updated the Filmography section to include a couple of new movies. I don't have a lot of information on Warwick's role in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Unchain My Heart: The Ray Charles Story, but everything I know is now online. I've also updated TV Guest Appearances to include Warwick's November 2002 appearance on the UK series RI:SE.

April 27, 2003

If you're interested in Leprechaun production art, then today is your lucky day. I've added a couple of new subsections to the Leprechaun Behind the Scenes Gallery, and most of the new material is storyboards. Production Materials Part 1 is a full set of storyboards for the hide and seek sequence, drawn in an entertaining style. Production Materials Part 2 contains storyboards for pickup shots, including some of the movie's most memorable moments, and a sample of production paperwork.

Many thanks to Executive in Charge of Production Dave Tripet for his help with this material!

April 19, 2003

Today's Leprechaun treats start off with three short items in the Leprechaun Articles section. There's an excerpt from a 1996 Cinefantastique article dealing with Leprechaun series creator Mark Jones, an excerpt from a 1999 Fangoria interview with Lep 2 director Rodman Flender, and an excerpt from a 2001 Fangoria interview with actor Phil Fondacaro, who tried out unsuccessfully for the part of the Leprechaun during the casting of Lep 1.

I've added a link in the Warwick Davis Articles that will be of interest to Lep fans. This new link is Coolwaters Productions' Warwick Davis biography and pictures. This company represents Warwick for personal appearances in the U.S. And why is this interesting to Lep fans? Well, the Warwick bio includes an exclusive behind the scenes photo from the Leprechaun 6 set. And one of the founding members of Coolwaters, Derek Maki, has a small part in Lep 6.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was released on DVD and VHS on April 11, so naturally I've added a few DVD screen captures to Harry Potter Pictures Part 2. Although I haven't started a Filmography section for it yet, Warwick is returning as Professor Flitwick in the third movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I hope they give him a bigger role this time! Flitwick is more noticeable in the third book than he was in the second, so there's definitely hope.

Harry Potter 2 isn't the only Warwick Davis movie to hit the mass market in the last few days. The New Adventures of Pinocchio was released on DVD and VHS on April 15. This film might be a bit hard to find on store shelves but is easily available online. You can buy it through the new official site [Obsolete link removed] - part of the proceeds go to charity - and it's also available from online video sellers like Amazon.com and Buy.com. There's some fun stuff on the official site, and if their Warwick Davis bio sounds familiar it's because they used the Biography that I wrote for my website!

There's fresh information on Agent One Half, the upcoming movie based on a story by Warwick and starring him in the title role. According to the official site, Warwick's co-star in the movie will be David Steinberg, who is best known for playing Meegosh in Willow. Coolwaters Productions, mentioned three paragraphs above, represents David as well as Warwick, and you can check out their David Steinberg bio here. Warwick and David had great onscreen chemistry playing buddies in Willow, so it's wonderful that they'll be getting together in front of the camera again.

In addition to that news, I've updated the Agent One Half section to add some quotes from the Celluloid Shockers Warwick Davis interview.

One final item - Warwick will be appearing at Autographica 2003 being held on May 9-11 in Northampton, England. Check out the Conventions section for other upcoming appearances.

April 8, 2003

Today the Celluloid Shockers Warwick Davis interview hit the internet! The interview is full of information on the Leprechaun series, including some juicy Lep 6 tidbits. And there are two ways to enjoy the interview - you can read the text, or watch a video. Here's a helpful hint for video watching - don't mess with the 'viewer' because it's just a picture. Instead, look for "WATCH THE FULL INTERVIEW ON VIDEO NOW!" and click on the "now." I actually needed help to figure that out....

April 4, 2003

Big news, Lep fans! Celluloid Shockers posted a story on March 28 stating that there are plans for a DVD box set of all six Leprechaun movies, "each filled to the brim with special features and ALL 6 movies featuring Audio Commentaries by Warwick Davis and Make-Up Artist Gabe Bartalos."

I wanted to believe this, but it sounded too good to be true. I knew they'd actually talked to Warwick, because they mentioned that he's commissioned an exclusive Lep statue with a sculptor - that story is true, and as far as I know it's never been published on the web until now. But I was worried that there might have been some kind of misunderstanding about the DVD set. I'd heard some talk about a special feature on the Lep 6 set but it didn't sound like it would be anything on this scale.

So I did some checking around, and guess what? My sources indicate that there really are plans for a box set with an audio commentary by Warwick and Gabe on every movie. There may be other features as well, but I don't have any confirmed information on that at this time. The work on this special collection will start sometime after the release of Leprechaun 6. But there's still no word on when Lep 6 will be released, so please, don't ask.

This is going to be a FANTASTIC collection. Warwick has already proven his skills with audio commentary on the Willow DVD, and Gabe demonstrated a lot of verbal talent on the set of Lep 6. I'll definitely be buying the set - so what if I already have multiple copies of Lep 1-5, and will buy a copy of the Lep 6 DVD at the earliest opportunity?

Special thanks to Beau Rees for tipping me off about the Celluloid Shockers story!

March 28, 2003

Star Wars Insider #67 arrived in my mailbox today, and I didn't have to open it up to know that it was going to be a great issue. The main headline on the front cover announced that this was the Return of the Jedi 20th anniversary issue, and another headline shortly below that said "Warwick Davis Remembers Wicket." Translation: An interview with Warwick in this issue!

I checked out the magazine's contents immediately of course, and found out that the interview was even better than I expected. It has 6 pages of text and pictures (most of them rare behind-the-scenes photos that I have never seen before), plus an additional full-page photo of Wicket. The article also includes mini-interviews with several of the other Ewok actors, and there's a bit of other Ewok material sprinkled throughout the issue.

I have a policy of not printing magazine articles as long as the issue is easily available in stores, so you won't be seeing this wonderful interview on the webpage anytime soon. So I recommend that you hurry over to a nearby store and buy a copy! It's well worth the price for the Warwick interview alone, and there's loads of other great material in this magazine.

If you haven't seen the last couple of updates yet, about Warwick's upcoming starring role in Agent One Half and the new Lep 1 Behind the Scenes Gallery, then keep on reading:

March 19, 2003

There's an exciting new addition to the Filmography section! Warwick is set to play the title role in a brand new movie, but this time around he's not just the star - he's also the co-producer and co-wrote the story.

The name of the film is Agent One Half and the title character is a member of America's smallest spy team. Does that sound like fun or what? So click on the link and find out more about it!

March 17, 2003

Happy St. Patrick's Day! According to Leprechaun 2 it's the Leprechaun's birthday, and if I've calculated right he's 2009 years old now.

I've got something extra-special to celebrate the occasion. The Leprechaun Pictures section is now home to the Lep 1 Behind the Scenes Gallery, an extensive collection of ultra-rare, never-before-published production photos by official photographer Karen Ogle. These photos illustrate the making of the movie and provide glimpses of a few deleted scenes as well. And there's more to the gallery than just pictures; there's also some great inside information provided by Dave Tripet, the movie's Executive in Charge of Production.

That should give the Leprechaun fans something to celebrate! But there's also good news for those of you in England - you have a couple of upcoming opportunities to see Warwick at a convention. He'll be at Chillerfest in London on March 22-23 and at Collectormania II in Milton Keynes on May 2-5. I've added these to the list of appearances in the Conventions section.

March 12, 2003

It has come to my attention that Lep 6 actress Sherrie Jackson has a Lep 6 photo on her official webpage. Click here to go straight to the photo gallery! I've also posted a link to it in the Lep 6 section.

February 28, 2003

As promised, the Leprechaun 4 script is now online! This one is closer to the movie than any other script in the Leprechaun Scripts section, but there ARE some interesting variations. My favorite is what happens to the Princess in Scene 106.

There's a new item and a semi-new item in the Warwick Davis Articles section. The new item consists of excerpts from the book George Lucas Companion by Howard Maxford. This UK paperback examines the film career of George Lucas through The Phantom Menace, and the excerpts presented here deal with the Lucasfilm movies that Warwick appeared in.

The semi-new item is an article that formerly appeared on the Lansing State Journal website but has now gone offline.

February 11, 2003

Today is the third anniversary of this webpage! On the first anniversary, the page had had 7,000 visitors; on the second anniversary the cumulative total was 22,000; and now it's up to 43,000. I like the way this trend is going...

In honor of the occasion, I've added two new scripts to the Leprechaun Scripts section. The first one is the Lep 1 script that I promised during the last update. This script describes the action, the camera work, and the feelings of both the characters and the audience in unusual detail, and seems to take itself so seriously that this becomes a source of entertainment in itself. The storyline is also entertaining, particularly after the group's long battle with the Leprechaun begins. Some details of the fight are quite different than the movie.

The second script is a surprise addition that I didn't see coming last time I posted an update. It's an early Lep in the Hood script that was written several months prior to the version that I posted last week. If you thought the movie was funny, wait until you read this script! The movie has a much more serious tone than the rest of the series, and that's reflected in the later script. But it looks like they were taking a pure comedy approach early on, and this script is HILARIOUS. The current movie is great, but I wish they'd do a remake using this script so we could have both versions. The script also contains a considerable of rhymes that we haven't heard before, and these have been added to the Rhymes section.

My next project is the Leprechaun 4 script, which will probably be the subject of the next update.

The New Adventures of Pinocchio finally had its American premiere a few days ago, so I've updated the section to reflect the fact that I've seen the movie. I had fun watching it, and if you missed it the first time, you've still got some opportunities to see it on cable. I don't know the exact details, but check your local listings on HBO Family, Starz, and Showtime; regular HBO should get it in March. Or you can wait for the DVD/video release on April 15.

February 3, 2003

Happy birthday to Warwick Davis, who is 33 today!

In honor of the occasion, I've added quite a few Leprechaun goodies to the page. From the older movies, folks, not number 6. There's now a new Scripts section in the Leprechaun menu because I finally have enough scripts to make a separate section worthwhile. This section currently contains the Leprechaun 3 script, which has been available on the page for over a year, and the Lep in the Hood script which is a brand-new addition. This script includes a lot of totally hilarious stuff that didn't make it into the movie, including a very different rendition of the Leprechaun rap, so be sure to check it out! It also includes a lot of great new rhymes, which have been added to the Lep 5 Rhymes.

The Scripts section will be growing soon. I currently have a script for the first movie in my possession, which I intend to post on February 11, the third anniversary of this webpage. A Lep 4 script is coming to me in the mail at this very moment, and I'll post it as soon as I can. The Lep 2 script is problematic - there isn't one of those anywhere in sight! But I hope to find one someday, so maybe it's just a matter of time.

I recently had the good fortune to meet up with Dave Tripet on the internet. Dave was the executive in charge of production on the first three Leprechaun movies, which means that he did all the things a producer does and was the liaison between the studio and the production. He helped me buy some very interesting pieces of authentic Leprechaun goods and provided background information to go with them (many thanks, Dave!). Some of these items have been posted today, and this is just the beginning; there'll be more later.

'Deputy Tripet' in Leprechaun 1 was named after him, and Dave also had an uncredited role in that movie as the sleeping security guard at the nursing home. I've added a couple of screen captures of him here and here in Lep 1 Screen Captures Part 3.

My favorite piece of tangible Lep stuff in today's update can be seen in the Lep 2 Props section. It's a stunt mask that was used in Leprechaun 2 and 3, and the reason it's so special is that I'm the current owner.

The Leprechaun Merchandise section has a lot of fresh information on the Leprechaun figurine, as well as photos and info on a couple of Leprechaun baseball caps. There's also a picture of a French Lep 3 poster that I unsuccessfully tried to buy on eBay.

I've got a few items for those of you who aren't into the Leprechaun series. Phantom Menace Pictures Part 2 has a new publicity photo of the elusive Grimy Man. And Harry Potter Pictures Part 2 has a shot of Flitwick's classroom from a different angle than what we usually see.

Finally, the Warwick Davis Links section can now lead you to a First Person Quiz survey [Obsolete link removed] said to have been completed by Warwick himself. Not sure if it's for real or not, but somebody wasn't being too serious here!

Today's update is a big one for me, because I finally get to reveal a little secret that I've been sitting on for three months. Listen up, Leprechaun fans: back in October, I spent 2½ days on the set of Leprechaun 6! It took a while to get the OK to talk about it on the webpage, but now I can finally share my experience with the fans. Well, part of my experience; this is a Lep 6 no-spoiler zone, and I always avoid revealing any plot details beyond what you might expect to see in promos for the movie. But my Lep 6 set report does have a lot of detail on what happens behind the scenes of a Leprechaun movie, and it also has a picture that was taken on the set! As far as I know, this is the first time the Leprechaun's costume for this movie has been seen on the web.

This was an utterly thrilling experience that was possible due to the kindness and cooperation of a lot of people. A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of them - you know who you are!

And for all the fans who keep asking: no, I still don't know when Lep 6 will be released. But I know how anxious everyone is to find out about this, and as soon as I get some reliable information I'll post it.

During my visit, I got to view some footage from Skinned Deep, the upcoming movie by Leprechaun makeup artist Gabe Bartalos. I won't print any spoilers on this film either, but I will tell you this: it's an extraordinarily strange and fascinating movie, and I can't wait until it's released!

In other movie news, I received a press release on The New Adventures of Pinocchio stating that the movie will be released on video/DVD on April 15th from Santa Barbara Home Video. The TV premiere is still set for February 2 at 7 PM EST on HBO Family. The press release contains a lot of other information as well; follow the link earlier in this paragraph to read the full text. We don't have much longer to wait!

I have no major Leprechaun 6 news to report at the moment, but I've added a few more actor names to the Leprechaun 6 section as well as adding a link to the IMDB listing for the movie and some other minor information.

There's some great news on the Skinned Deep front. The film is scheduled to be mixed in the beginning of February, and the final product should be ready a few weeks later. This is going to be a great movie, so it's wonderful to see it moving toward completion!

Time for a bit of Star Wars trivia. Star Wars Insider #65 (the current issue) has a lengthy story on the new Star Wars Galaxies: The Empire Divided video game. It appears that the game has an Endor section, where the player must contend not with the Ewoks, but with King Terak and the Marauders! These are characters from Ewoks: the Battle for Endor. It's not often that you see the Ewok TV movies being given a place in the Star Wars expanded universe.
