Warwick's Custom Lep Figure

Exclusive photo courtesy of Warwick Davis. Many, many thanks to him for sharing it so generously!

Leprechaun-related merchandise has never been plentiful, and the lack of a high-quality Lep figure has been especially painful to fans. But now this problem is about to be solved! Warwick Davis himself has commissioned an amazing custom Leprechaun sculpture that will be available for fans to purchase. Click here to see the March 2005 announcement on his webpage, complete with pictures.

In addition, Warwick has created a webpage section dedicated to the figure that has more pictures and information. Check it out here

The sculpting work was completed in May 2005 and the figures were being painted as of September 2005. The figure was finished in time for Warwick to display it at the Chiller Theatre Expo in New Jersey in October 2005.

The figure got a broader public unveiling on Saint Patrick's Day 2006, when Warwick posted pictures of it on his webpage. The link to Warwick's figure section that I provided a couple of paragraphs ago will lead you to these pictures, in the "He's mean & now green" section. It's a truly fine-looking figure, with an amazing amount of detail in a small amount of space.

There's no word yet on how fans can get one for themselves, but Warwick says it'll be available soon!

The picture at left is a great full-length view of the figure in an early stage, before much of the sculpting had been done. But it's the background that really makes the picture fun. The computer screen behind the figure is displaying a photo that was used as a model for the figure's pose - I love the contrast between the evil old Lep in the foreground and friendly, normal-looking Warwick in the background. Some photos of the Leprechaun are visible too, along with some other pictures that appear to be figure-related but aren't specifically identifiable to a non-sculptor like myself. I really enjoy the general composition and flavor of this picture, and I'm VERY grateful to Warwick for providing it.
