Leprechaun Merchandise

Although the Leprechaun movies are still easily available, most of the other items have become hard-to-find rarities. All the authorized Lep merchandise I know about is listed below.

Movies

The Leprechaun movies can be ordered online from a variety of dealers or through your local video retailer. They are available on both VHS and DVD, including DVD multi-packs. All movies are easily available in Region 1 format; other formats may or may not be available.

Note: Leprechaun 2 was called A Wedding and a Lot of Funerals in the UK. Leprechaun 4 was called Space Platoon in Germany and some other parts of Europe.

Sirius made CD-ROM versions of Leprechaun and Leprechaun 2 for PC use.

Soundtracks

The Leprechaun soundtracks are out of print.

  • Intrada produced the Leprechaun soundtrack.
  • Varese Sarabande produced the Leprechaun 2 soundtrack.
  • Soundtrack albums were not released for Leprechaun 3 and 4.
  • The Leprechaun in the Hood soundtrack was produced by Spot Music, but has not been released.
  • I have no soundtrack information for Leprechaun Back 2 tha Hood beyond what it says in the credits.

The posters produced for the U.S. market resembled the video jackets, but worldwide there are some variations. The movie posters are out of print and hard to find. Various other advertising displays were produced.

Autographed Photos

If you're lucky enough to attend one of Warwick's convention appearances you can get an autograph live and in person!

You can buy autographed photos online from commercial autograph sellers. Availability varies, and Lep photos are hard to find; you'll have to do a web search to see what you can find at any given time. Autographed Warwick Davis photos are frequently available on Ebay, including the occasional Lep photo.

Scripts

Scripts for the first four Leprechaun movies were made available for sale to the public, but they're hard to find now. You can read some of them in the Scripts section.

For a while, Lions Gate films sold a downloadable copy of the Lep in the Hood script online for $3.99. It appears that this was not the final version of the script, which means that there was a large quantity of interesting deleted material. The script lost its continuity right at the very end, and I think they left a few lines out of it.

Figures

The Trimark Figurine

The original Trimark Leprechaun figurine has a distinct resemblance to a larger statue, sculpted by Gabe Bartalos out of the same plastic used for auto parts, that was used to sell the Leprechaun makeup concept to Trimark's production department. This statue somewhat resembles the photo above from the original poster shoot. This photo and Polaroids of the statue were sent to a toy company based in China in December 1991 to serve as the basis for the Leprechaun figurine.

Two hundred of the figurines were given away as consolation prizes in a promo contest for the first movie; old copies of the Lep 1 VHS tape include an advertisement for this contest. The figure was also given away to buyers at film markets like the Cannes Film Festival. Although not originally intended for sale to the public, some of them did end up on Trimark's online store but these sold out in late 1998. The 4-inch-tall figure is made of a plastic-like material and has a wire in its arms, although it doesn't bend much. Thanks to Dave Tripet for most of this information!

The Warwick Davis Custom Figure

Warwick Davis has commissioned a six-inch Leprechaun figure whose costume is based on Lep 5. The release date is unknown at this time. Click here and here for more information.

The SOTA Toys Figures

Now Playing Diorama Base Prototype Resin Bust

In August 2005, SOTA Toys displayed a prototype of a Lep 1 figure at Monster Mania in Cherry Hill, NJ. The figure was that was expected to be available in late 2006. is producing a figure based on Leprechaun 1 that is expected to be available in late 2006, and since this is a "smaller figure" (I don't know exactly what that means) it would come with an extra melty head and hands, a pot of gold and a diorama base of the well. For more information and pictures, see this article on Action Figure.com.

There's good news and bad news about this figure. In March 2007 I learned that SOTA is apparently planning to make two figures, not just one. An article on Figures.com talks briefly about the Now Playing Series 4 figure (the one that was announced back in 2005) and says "Leprechaun will also see the resin treatment as a mini bust in 2007."

An article on Dread Central also seems to indicate that there will be two Lep figures - one with a diorama base and the bust. This article apparently was written on 2/20/07, the last day of Toyfair. Looking at some online pictures of the SOTA Toy exhibit at this event, it doesn't look like they were displaying any Lep figures.

However, this 3/1/07 interview with the new SOTA CEO on Fwooshnet does show a picture of the bust, which is really more of a half-body figure. This figure can be pre-ordered at various sites around the internet, with a variety of 2007 release dates being reported. The Now Playing figure can also be pre-ordered, with no picture available and no consensus on the release date. A knowledgeable-sounding post on Toypit says that the prototype displayed back in 2005 is not the final version, but I can't find any more information.

And now for the bad news. I wouldn't recommend pre-ordering either of these figures at this time. SOTA has been experiencing some hard times and is currently reorganizing, and the viability of some of their product lines is in doubt. Although the new SOTA CEO said the Now Playing line will go forward in the Fwooshnet article, some reasonably well-informed sources think this is doubtful. So time alone will tell whether we will actually get either or both of these figures.

Wearables

Promo Cap
Crew Cap

These baseball caps look rather similar on the surface, but their origins are very different. The promo cap is one of several thousand that were made to give away at radio stations and colleges. The cast and crew hat is one of about 40 that were ordered much earlier by Dave Tripet to give away to the movie's cast and crew.

The promo cap is actually black; the color in this photo isn't true, but I used it anyway because I couldn't get a scan that showed the cording at the base of the brim as well as this photo does. The crew cap doesn't have this cording. The other primary difference between these caps is the material; the promo cap doesn't have a label but seems to be made of nylon, while the crew cap is made of 100% cotton. Thanks to Dave Tripet for the information!

I don't know how many of the Leprechaun movies issued crew wear, but if seeing is believing then Lep 4 definitely had a crew jacket. That's pretty amazing considering how low-budget the series is. The jacket featured a small logo on the front and apparently a larger one on the back.
