Interview from The Dandy Comics, Issue #3383 (Fall 2006?)
Dandy: Just how hot was that Ewok costume?
Warwick: It was like my own personal sauna! It had a foam body suit to give it the shape and a fur suit over the top. When they put the head on the eyes would just mist up!
Dandy: Do you have any funny stories from working on Star Wars?
Warwick: The Ewok village set was log flooring, lots of steps and different levels. By the end of a take there were more Ewoks lying down than there were standing up - it looked like absolute carnage!
Dandy: So, there's you and Chewbacca in a celeb Death Match. Who'd win?
Warwick: Wicket would go for the kneecaps...That's his specialty, which would bring him down to his level and he'd finish him off his bolas.
Dandy: Can you still speak any Ewokese?
Warwick: 'Yub-yub' means 'yippee'.
Dandy: More importantly, do you remember any rude Ewok words?
Warwick: The rudest there is...'Lurdo.' It means 'idiot.'
Dandy: Do Ewoks poop in the woods?
Warwick: I guess they do. If they're in battle, they're not going to say, "Hold on a minute, Stormtroopers, I'm just nipping off to the toilet."
Dandy: You played 4 separate characters in The Phantom Menace, and not one of them got to bash Jar Jar Binks - disappointing?
Warwick: No! At the time the film came out my daughter was two and she loved Jar-Jar. However, Weasel would've soon had enough and got rid of him.
Dandy: Is seeing yourself recreated in LegoŽ a bit weird?
Warwick: I remember when I saw my character as a plastic figure and thinking, "Wow!" It's nice in LegoŽ Star Wars 2 - you can build your own. I can put Wicket's head on anyone I choose!
Dandy: Any tips for readers who want to become Ewoks?
Warwick: Get short. Or walk around on your knees!
Dandy: You wear a lot of make-up in films - does it make you feel a bit girly?
Warwick: The type of make up I wear is made of glue, a couple of inches of rubber, foam latex and silicon and then some hair. By the time you've sat under that lot for a few hours you feel far from girly. More like sticky.
Dandy: You and Vern Troyer (Mini Me from Austin Powers) must be the two most famous short actors in the world. Do you find yourselves competing for the same roles? And does the winner send rude text messages to the loser?
Warwick: I'm bigger than him so he lets me have the roles that I want. I just give him the leftovers.
